My Dewalt emglo D55141 does not shut off. It keeps running past the 150 psi max and blows out the PRV. Is there something I can fix that will cut out air pressure like supposed to?

If you have no leaks the first thing I'd check is the ring and cylinder for wear. The cylinder wear is usually pretty obvious, but if you can see light around the piston ring it's bad. The replacement part number is N038785. Also check to make sure no valves on the valve plate part number A09819 are broken or bent.

SOURCE: air won't go past 40 psi on my dewalt compressor

If it keeps running, but doesn't gain any ground, and you don't have significant leaks, it's either piston rings or (probably) valves. If you're up to it, pull the head off (mark the valve plate orientation with a sharpie marker, first). Look for broken or fouled valve reeds or discs (depending on design).

Here is a parts diagram for the air compressor:

There are a couple of things to look for on the air compressor.

You will need to see if the piston ring is damaged or if you have a broken reed on the valve plate.

These are typically the two most common problems with this model.

SOURCE: It is an electric motor Dewalt Emglo Compressor

Dewalt recommends using synthetic pump oil, however if you only use the machine occasionally and not in a commercial setting, standard compressor oil will work great and save you money. Synthetic oil will last longer and can take much higher temperatures without breaking down. Lowes sell the kobalt brand of compressor oil and sells for about $3 for standard and $7 for synthetic. Home depot sells campbell hausfeld brand but equally as good. Auto parts stores also sell a line of compressor /pump oil just watch pricing for your needs. If you can't find compressor oil, non-detergent motor oil works just fine. Good holidays

SOURCE: dewalt air compressor keeps running until pressure

The regulator switch/unloader is bad or out of adjustment. Perhaps though the gauge is faulty. 200 psi in a 120psi compressor is dangerous, don't run it until it is fixed!

Emglo AM78 4CHV oil capacity

I just rebuilt my Emglo AM78 4CHV, new pressure switch, unloaded, check valve, aftercooler, and changed the #30 oil, It takes 4oz.
Runs like new after not cutting in/out correctly and purging air before reaching 125 psi. Kicked it down to 115 max psi via main spring setting. Don't need 125 for trim nailing and siding.
FYI don't use cheaper generic 125 psi pressure switch from Amazon!!

My D55141 heavy duty 2gal (7.6L) 150 psi max builds pressure up to around 150 releases pop off valve then keeps running, what causes this problem?

The pressure switch is either out of adjustment or has failed. The compressor should shut off at a much lower pressure than the safety valve (~100 psi)

Compressor relief valve opens 150lbs on my d55141

That is the compressor's holding capacity 150psi. Therefore, the cut-out pressure has been reached. The safety valve opens to relieve the excessive psi. Compressor should come on at 120 psi.

I have a Dewault D55141 air compressor that runs to 150 lbs of pressure and blows the valve and releases air. I bought it new about 2 yrs ago? What needs to be done with this problem? I noticed on this...

Hello;
150 is your cutout pressure. It's the factory setting and is not a problem. But, It appears you have a pop off (safety) that is set for 125 psi, So, If you want 150 psi, the pop off needs to be adjusted. If you want 125 the the cut out switch needs the adjusting. The setting. More than likely the 125 psi pop off valve is correct and the switch needs to be adjusted down below the pop off pressure. To sdjust the switch, remove the cover of the box the cord comes out of.Adjust using the screw(s). There should be one for cut in and another for cutout pressuressures. The cut in pressure should be 90 psi and the cutout should be at 125 psi.If the pop off valve blows off at 125, It needs either replace or adjusting. It's best to replace it.since the spring inside has lost tension. You will be constantly adjusting it otherwise. Good Luck -Ned_ Take caution not to get your tool or fingers into the electrical in the switch box.

It only builds pressure to 70 psi.

there the pressure regulator between the 2 guages needs turned up. it may be a locking type if so pull out or push it in and turn it, if that doesnot work the regulator may need to be replaced.
