3 Blinks means one of the buffer boards is bad. The way to test it is to unhooking one SDR board at a time, and see if half of your screen comes on properly. If the SDR-D board is bad the bottom half of the screen won't come on when you remove the board. Send it out for repair (less expensive then buying a replacement board) or search for a refurbished board. If your non technical provide this info to a service tech and ask for an estimate. Cost will be moderate. Hope this helps you. Jon

My hitachi plasma tv model P50S601 only flashes a picture for a second before going black. Once it goes black, the blue power button flashes and can't be turn off by the remote or by manually pressing it...

These tv's are know for this. I have a topic about it telling you how to test and repair these at http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/hitachi/38229-hitachi-p50h401-led-flashes-3-times.html

p50s601 and p50h401 are basicly the same tv but the p50h401 doesn't have the swival base.

these sets are known for two caps to go bad in the power supply and then most likely it fried out one or both of the driver boards. the driver boards can be repaired. a company that repairs them is listed in the topic. or you can buy new driver boards.

Tv wont turn on

Check the ff:
1. Power plug - for open internal wire due to frequent bending, pulling.
2. Try to power by remote - if power up by remote then you have a faulty tack switch.
3. Replace Internal Fuse - sometimes because of power surge the fuse fail. However if the fuse blew again this is an indication of shorts.
Next step is not Diy because of the ff reason
3. Voltage regulator - might be open or shorted.
4. H-out transistor - shorted
5. Open fusible resistor in line with the B+.
6.Dry joints

Blue light blinks three times

very common issue for these sets! p50h401 and p50s601 are almost the same.

for more info on this set please check out http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/hitachi/38229-hitachi-p50h401-led-flashes-3-times.html
if will tell you how to trouble shoot this tv. these tv's are known for two caps in the power supply to go bad and they need replaced then you have to test the sdr buffer boards if they are bad you need replacement boards or you can send them off to be repaired.( Repairing the buffer boards is a lot less then replacing them ) the link for the repair guy is on the page. this guy also sells the repair on ebay but if you contact him directly i beleave the price is lower. just tell him you were send over by home theater shack.

Blue light blinking-

I would say you are lucky to get a pretty fair price, sounds like a convergence problem- if the tv is a projection wide screen. worth the investment Julio [email protected]

HITATCHI ULTRAVISION P50S601...POWER LIGHT BLINKING...WONT COME O

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
