Most definitely! The lamp is a consumer replaceable item and your owners manual should have instructions on how to complete this task. If you don't have your owners manual and more post your model number and i will get you some instructions on how to replace it!

Hi all ~

I have a 4 year old Zenith DLP 41" TV and have recently noticed a discolored circle in the lower middle of the screen. When the TV is on but with a black screen the circle appears blue, but when the TV is on a channel it appears yellow. Is this something I can fix or should I start looking for a replacement?

MITSUBISHI 60 INCH PROJECTION TV WITH LITTLE WHITE DOTS ON SCREEN

You will need the DLP chip replaced. I do not recommend trying this on your own on a Mitsubishi. You need a technician who has extensive Mitsubishi experience to replace that chip(if it is available for your particular model) If the chip is not available for your particular model, it means replacing the light engine. For that cost I would update to a LCD or LED TV & come out ahead.
If you want an idea what it costs to replace the DLP chip (if avail for your unit) contact a local servicer & see what they can quote you over the phone. Be sure you are sitting down.
Considering the age of your unit I would be looking at an LCD or LED flat screen.

Replaced dlp chip

Kelly,

The yellow blinking light generally means that the lamp cover is open. You may have accidentally jarred the lamp while changing the DMD chip, and the lamp safety switch is not engaging. The first thing I would try would be to re-install the lamp and make sure the cover is on correctly. Let us know if that solves the problems. Thanks.

While tv is on, at times screen just blacks out ...then comes on again.....audio remains but picture fades in and out....often

Replace lamp in tv because symptom shows lamp is near to end of its working hours life and causing that problem.
If lamp has not been replaced in tv in last 2-3 years, its time to replace it to solve the issue.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.
Thanks.

The power will not turn on and the power LED is flashing red.

PT-50LD54 is an LCD rear projection TV with a consumable bulb that wears out normally after 2-5 years of use.

Most likely you need a bulb. That is first step in any troubleshooting for that tv. Check out Panasonic Gallery to identify lamp and replacement bulb.

Changing bulb involves removing the lamp assembly and replacing the bulb in the lamp assembly. Like doing a puzzle. Requires philips screwdriver, pliers and patience. Don't have jam on your fingers when you do it.

Toshiba 62; DLP 720P- Alot more red and green

You have probably have installed the wrong lamp or you installed a third party/off brand Lamp. If that is the case anything other than a Factory replacement Lamp will have a different color temprature. Install a Lamp that is listed from the manufacture.

PROJECTION TV'S & DLP TV'S

No, your DLP does not need the annual cleaning as your old projection tv did. The rear projection used high voltage, 35kv, which attracted dust and smog. I would recommend to have your DLP cleaned when your LAMP goes out. Your lamp should last 2-3 years, then I would call a factory authorized service dealer to replace your DLP's lamp and have them do the cleaning at that time. I do it everyday as a in-home service tech.I hope this help.

Need a replacement lamp for a Protron 26" LCD TV

This is an lcd tv. It does not use a lamp. dlp tvs use lamps. You have fallen into the trap many others have. I am a servicer and I have found there are absolutely no parts, no service manuals, nothing at all available to repair any Protron set. You save some when you buy, but when they break, throw it out.
