Why does my new Singer cg-500 stop working, then start for a little bit and stop again?

I barely finished a simple square cushion cover when the machine just stopped working, as in the needle stopped moving and only a hummmmm can he heard. When I manually turn the large side knob, it's very stiff. If I leave the machine for a bit, it will work, then afte sewing a few inches, will stall again. Is this a machine issue, a power issue, or a combination of both?

Probably thread wrapped around something....takeup crank, motor pully...if you can get inside to have a look great, if not, find someone who can.

What is the difference between the Singer CG 500 and the CG-500C?

I just got a CG-500-C, i'm pretty sure that the CG-500 is a table top machine, and the C Stands for Cabinet, meaning the CG-500-C is mountable in a cabinet, to fold away when not in use. like gramma used to have.

Only sewing mode A works...none of the zig zaggy types work. Only the basic sewing patter works. How can I get the other ones to work?

Call Singer on Monday at 1-800-4singer and hopefully it is covered under warranty. How old is it? Had it worked before and just stopped? What width do you have it set at? Clean and lubricate, insert a new needle. Try the widest setting then the narrowest and widest again. Let me know and there are some things maybe you can try if you need it before Monday.

I have a singer CG 500 C. When switching to a different fabric or thread, the bobbin thread begins to get loose and bunched underneath the fabric. I have adjusted the tension to have it get better for a...

Your threading might be the problem, follow the advise in your manual for your fabric. or go to singerco.com & see what they advise in your model or another one for tensions on satin. You may need a walking foot to do the job, You can take a scrap piece of fabric and try using tissue paper under your fabric to stop the slippage, then tear it away. We did that when I was learning to sew, and it worked. Good luck.

Problem w/ metal plate over bobbin

try and find the screw dude... either that or try taping it down i know it's not an ideal solution but it's a quick fix until you can replace the screw

METAL PLATE COVERING BOBBIN WON'T STAY DOWN

Take it apart again and compare the original screw with the one you substituted. If they are not the same size, you will need to get one that matches the original.

Re-place the needle plate and when firmly in place, put the screws back in.
