SOURCE: how do i open the dell flatscreen to look inside

tonytony_r, If you are really intent on opening your LCD monitor, then visit YOUTUBE and search for the longer (8-12min) video clips of LCD monitor disassembly and / or repair. BUT REMEMBER THIS!!! YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! iF YOU ARE NOT VERY CAREFUL, YOU COULD DAMAGE THE LCD SCREEN BY FRACTURING (CRACKING THE GLASS) SCREEN. Have you researched the web to find out what types of failures of electronic components to look for? I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol.com Good luck.

SOURCE: i have dell LCD monetor

Service manuals;

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Zaheer khan,
To unlock the monitor controls and get rid of the lock you can press and hold the menu button in for 20 seconds. You can also try the information listed in the link below.

Padlock icon

Many monitors have an on-screen display lock (the padlock icon) that seems to get stuck.
Various suggestions in the links below - the one that seems to work most often is to hold the monitor's menu button down for 15-20 seconds to get the screen menu, then either try unlocking the OSD (On Screen Display) or do a factory reset on the monitor.

Different monitors have slightly different menus, but if it's a Dell monitor you can find the manual below (under Display):

Have a 16" dell flat screen monitior. The display are very dim,and make for hard viewing. Tried to push buttons on computer but a locked icon flashes up. Tried holding the buttons to unlock but did not...

You need to hold the menu button for 15 seconds until the lock icon changes to unlock. Then you should be able to adjust the brightness of the monitor, assuming that the backlight is working properly. Hope this helps you.

Dell 1503FP works, but won't start up again for a few hours

Hello there.
Seems like electronics pack up but try an old one. disconnect all the data cables from your monitor side(HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, USB etc.) or computer side if the ones on display are built-in. Leave only the power cable. Unplug the monitor`s power cable. Press the POWER button on the front of the display and keep it pressed for 45 secs. Plug everything back and give it a try.
Good luck.

Have choice of Dell 15 in 1503FP or Samsung synmaster 15 570v TFT. Which should I choose? Any advice appreciated.THX.

I am angry with dell computers...however their monitors are without equal in my opinion. More settings on the dell monitor. Also i have had dell monitors going on eleven years and have not had one single problem. No I don't work for them LOL:)

Dell 1503FP

Yes, The largest of the 2 boards in there. (left side of the monitor if you were looking at it from the fornt.)

If you can get a photo of it, it is possible it could be a different variation in your monitor. They tend to slap them together with whatever parts they have.

Not really its better to go for an LCD screen , its better in colour and power efficiency & space so in the long term it pays itself off
