Sansa e250R 2GB got hanged.

The player can read the card, but it is not going to add more memory space to the player. The function of the card reader is to enable your player to play songs that you otherwise couldn't play because the hard drive is full.

hey yeah i had the same problem with my sansa e250r. when mine does that i
1. turn it off
2. put the hold button on
3. hold down the rec. button
4. turn it back on
that will get you into recovery mode connect your data cable once you have hooked it up to your computer open my computer and you should see a 16mb drive there instead of your normal mp3.
once you see that open it up.
now go to http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1449 scroll down and click on download firmware link
once you have downloaded that file unzip it and copy the file that is inside to the 16mb drive that you opened up in my computer.

once you have done all the above,,
1. take the hold button off
2. disconnect the data cable
3. wait for it to reboot.
if the above dosent work you might wanna take it to the dealer.

Can't create directories directly on the m250. I've got about 1000 songs loaded (already broken into subdirectories) that take up 800 MB and the device claims that it's full. (Firmware is also updated to 4.1.08A)

you might want to try right clicking on your mp3 icon while in rhapsody and clicking format device...

If the 4gb micro SD is a high capacity SD (it will say micro SDHC on it) your player may not be able to read SDHC cards, my sansa can't because it's the 'older version' it will read 2gb and below micro SD cards though (it sucked when I found out because I had just bought a 6gb micro SDHC)

Make sure the device is in Rhapsody or MTP mode. Otherwise, the licenses will not transfer. Best of Luck.

With most MP3 players, some of the memory is used for system files and software. Just delete all the things you done use (i.e. pictures, playlists, Rhapsody Channels) and whatever space you have free is what you have to work with.

If you want more memory, I highly suggest a microSD card

Deleting songs from your E250R can be done in 2 ways: By using Windows Media Player 10 or 11, or by browsing the player through Windows Explorer. Before you delete files, though, it's important to know that your player comes in 2 modes: "Rhapsody" and "PlaysForSure". The reason why is that music files saved in one mode would not be seen in the other mode, and vice versa. Therefore, if you can't find the music files in your player, switch to the other mode. Here's how to do it: Use the "Menu" button to navigate the player as follows: Menu > Settings > Mode > This will give you the option of: "Rhapsody" and "PlaysForSure". Here's how to delete your songs: (1) By Using WIndows Media Player: > Plug your Sansa to your computer and open your Windows Media Player. > If your Windows Media Player is version 10, then click on the "Sync" tab and you should see your player ("E250R") on the right pane along with its folders, named "Data" and "Media" or "Music". Expand the "Media" folder and you'll see the "Music" folder containing your songs. Right-click on a song and select "Remove" to delete them. > If your Windows Media Player is version 11, then either click on the "Sync" or "Library" tab and you'll see your player listed on the left pane. The music files will be displayed on the center window. Right-click on a song and select "Delete" to delete the songs. (2) By browsing the player in Windows Explorer Note: the folders containing the music files on your player are "Hidden" and you would need to set your Windows Explorer to show "Hidden Files and Folders".
