Leapster my dog chewed the stylus pen on my grandson's leapster. Is it possible to find a suitable replacement?

  • dmrochat Sep 29, 2008

The pen is not working on my son's leapster. When I try and recalibrate, the target does not show up.

  • greatmomma Feb 26, 2009

I did this & it just kept saying "press in center of target" & I could only do it on targets on left hand screen. For tarets on right, I pressed in middle of screen. Nothing happened, no answers. Help? Thanks

I found this on an Ebay guide...

"FIRST! The pen is not electronic AT ALL! If the screen does not seem to be working with your stylus pen (for instance, you click one part of the screen and it clicks a totally different part), you may need to calibrate the screen! Put a cartridge in, turn the system on, and when the sign in screen comes up, press the HOME, HINT, and B buttons at the same time. When the screen changes, press the A button. Follow the directions.

If you need a replacement pen, with the cord attached, follow the instructions:

Send $5.00 in check or money order (to cover shipping and handling charges) to
LeapFrog Customer Service
Leapster Replacement Stylus
563 North Fairview Street
Santa Ana, CA 92703

Please note that this is supposed to be for pens that are lost or damaged ONLY."

The pen on my sons leapfrog leapster won't work

Push the "A" button to enter the calibration.
There will be a little plus sign. Touch it with the stylus and continue to touch the plus signs with the stylus until you return to the calibration screen.
Turn the Leapster off and then back on again without a cartridge.

The touch pen doesn't work

Answer
I had the same problem and here is the answer I found at leapfrog.com which fixed my daughter’s disney princess leapster 2’s problem. Good luck!
If your Leapster2 does not respond to the stylus pen, it needs to be calibrated. Calibrating the Leapster2 is easy:
1) Ensure that a cartridge is not inserted
2) Hold down the Hint (?) button while turning the unit on. Continue to hold the Hint button down until the LEAPSTER menu appears.
3) When the LEAPSTER menu screen appears, press the A button
4) Touch each of the crosshairs that appear with the stylus
5) Restart unit

My Leapster 2 comes on, shows the name on screen & ask to touch my name w/ the pen; however when I touch the name, nothing happens. It keeps asking to touch a name or "guest".

Leapster with broken pen

My daughter did the same thing to the tip of her Leapster 2 stylus. I called Leap Frog at 1-800-701-5327 and was able to order a replacement stylus directly from them on credit card for $5.00 shipped.

I also took her old stylus and sanded the broken tip down with 100 grit and then 220 grit sandpaper to get rid of the sharp, cracked point and it works just fine. I figure I'll keep the sanded one as a spare in case she does something silly with it again.
