Press SETUP until you see 4. PREFERENCES. (Spanish-Preferencias) Press OK.
Press RIGHT ARROW until you see SET LANGUAGE & COUNTRY/REGION. (Spanish-Idioma & Pais) Press OK.
Press LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW until you see ENGLISH. (Spanish-Inglés) Press OK.
When Prompted, press OK.
Press RIGHT ARROW to select the country. Press OK.
When prompted press RIGHT ARROW to select Yes or No. Press OK.

Press the Setup button until you see Preferencias and press OK. Press the right arrow until you see an entry with Lenguas in it and press OK. Use the left and right arrows to scroll through the languages and press OK when you find the one you want. When prompted press OK for yes or Cancel for no. Use the right arrow to select the country/region for the language you selected and press OK. When prompted, press the right arrow to select yes or no and press OK.

Follow these steps to change language setting on the printer display :
1.On the printer control panel, press the Left arrow twice or the Right arrow seventeen times on the Menu button until SELECT LANGUAGE? appears on the printer display screen.
NOTE: If the language is currently set to a language other than English, the Select Language? menu option will appear in that language.
2.Press the OK button.
3.Press the Left or Right arrows on the Select Photos button until your desired language appears.
NOTE: Even if the printer is currently set to another language, the name English will appear in the English language.
3.Press the OK button to select the language. A message requesting confirmation of the selection will appear appears. If the correct language is displayed, press the OK button. If the incorrect language appears, press the CANCEL button and start the selection process again.
4.When the SELECT COUNTRY/REGION? setting appears on the printer display screen press the OK button to continue.
5.Press the Left or Right arrows on the Menu button until the desired country/region appears on the printer display screen.
6.Press the OK button to select the country/region.

press < or > to select location and then press "check mark"
Press < or > until correct location appears. Press "Check mark"
Press 1 to confirm.
Printer should now reboot.

Thanks to all of you for the great solutions. After trying all of them with no success, I stumbled on a fix. I suspected there could be a bad connection causing the garbage so I disconnected and then reconnected the display. Bingo! I'm back to English!

Reseat the display.
