Hi.

More than limit switches if burner is turning on but heating is poor you should check cycling themostat and then blower motor, lint filter and parts comprised in blower assembly.

When the problem is the high limit, there is no heat at all.
When the problem is radiant sensor, there is no heat at all.

Poor heating means either: defective cycling thermostat; clogged air ducts; defective blower system, problem with timer or temperature selector.

If the heating turns off in the middle of the cycle check also door switch.

Here Cycling thermostat:

propain gass dyer. runs but very little heat. - 10_22_2011_10_57_23_am.gif

The cycling thermostat is located in the blower assembly. Here removal instructions. Disconnect power first:

10_22_2011_11_00_07_am.gif

The thermostat can be tested using a multimeter. Set the multimeter on impedance (Ohms). Good thermostat will read about Ohms at room and will read open (infinity) at 150F.

Once in there also check the thermal fuse and check blower assembly. Remove lint and make sure blower is working. Thermal fuse is tested reading impedance across its two contacts. Remove fuse from circuit and touch with multimeter probes fuse's contacts (same for thermostat). If fuse is good it will read zero Ohms or very little impedance. a bad fuse reads infinity.

Check also the exhaust. Make sure there is no blockage.

Operations are illustrated from page 72 of service manual: Herpropain gass dyer. runs but very little heat. - 10_22_2011_11_09_36_am.gifbr>

10_22_2011_11_09_36_am.gif

About the flame sensor, that is a part that rarely fails. If the dryer ignites the radiant sensor is not responsible for the fault.
The radiant sensor is mounted in parallel with the coil.

When temperature is reached the sensor opens up allowing power to burner valve (valve 2). Testing the flame sensor like a thermostat is difficult because it opens up at high temp. I read volts while operating. I propain gass dyer. runs but very little heat. - 10_22_2011_11_18_01_am.gify maintenance that can be performed with power off.

10_22_2011_11_18_01_am.gif

If the burner shuts down at random more than the sensor check the door switch. Run a cycle with door switch contacts jumped.

Start checking cycling thermostat and air ducts, those are problems that usually cause low heating.

Regards.

Gas dryer, does not get hot.

themobilian_2300.jpgthemobilian_2301.jpgthemobilian_2302.jpg

First look for air restrictions which would cause overheating and remedy that. Then hunt down these duct fuses and check them for continuity. The gas dyer fuse kills only the circuit to the gas valve assembly so if it or the control klixon next to it is open then no power can get to the gas assembly. The gass assembly consists of a flame sensor , an ignitor, and a pair of solenoids. All are powered together in a complex circuit intentionally so that the power is first diverted to the ignitor which will nt allow the solenoid coils to do their job because their is not enough juice to work the ignitor and them coils. So the flame sensor detects the heat coming off the ignitor and a bi-metal inside bends and kills power to that ignitor. With the energy freed up them coils yank open the gas valve and the gas flows out onto the ignitor.
themobilian_2303.jpgthemobilian_2305.jpgthemobilian_2304.jpg

If the ignitor comes on and the flame sensor shuts it down but no gas comes out or gas comes out on first try but fails to fire off again then them solenoid coils need to be replaced. More Here

Dryer seems to run fine but does not get hot. (72882 series)

The cause of a gas dryer not heating can be many things. You need to diagnose the problem starting at the gas valve from the wall all the way through the dryer to the burner. Is the gas on? You may remove the flexline and check for gas. Reattach the flexline and see if the igniter is firing. It could be a faulty igniter. there are temprature limit switches that check if the dryer is overheating, if they get too hot, the dryer turns off the burner. switches are about the size of a quarter and there are usually two or more. One is a lower limit and the other is an upper limit switch The switches go bad after a while because they heat and cool many times over their lifetime. The way to check if it is a limit switch is to remove it from the circut and bypass it temporarily to see if the burner fires. If it is not a limit switch, it could be the gas valve. The valve is the brains and costs about $100 generally. Sometimes the valve can stick and believe it or not a good wack can unstick it.
Good luck....
PLEASE LEAVE SOME THUMBS UP FOR THE ADVICE!!!

Kitckenaid dyer KGYe6778WH1 Dyer won't heat

This is most likely due to the coils on the gas valve, they can become unstable and cause the symptoms you are describing. The coil kit is part number 279834 and runs about $20.00. It is replaceable from the front and not too hard to do.

Side note: the '8' in your model number is actually a 'B'

Amana gas dyer wont turn model #lga30aw

Hi.

If the machine stays completely off, does not ignite, does not spark, does not turn, and does not show any sign of power, check the power outlet, and the power cord.

If the machine starts, ignites, but the drum does not turn, then the following parts must be tested:

PS2166310 Motor Switch Kit (part 3 diag 2 )

PS2021298 Motor Assembly (part 5 diag 2 )

PS2046298 TIMER, 4 CYCLE (part 5 Diag 1)

If the Dryer does not ignite or does not heat test the following:

If it does not ignite:

PS2039618 BURNER IGNITOR ASSY (part 7 - diag 4)

PS383994 Two Terminal Gas Valve Coil (p.8 -d.4)

PS383993 Secondary Coil Valve (p.12 d.4)

PS2046673 VALVE,ELBOW SHUT-OFF (p.14 - d.4)

PS2039380 Gas Valve Wire Harness

PS2201082 Limit Thermostat (part 7 - Diag 3)

If it turn but does not heath check also fan assembly and PS2046273 Cycling Thermostat (part 27 - Diag 2)

Dyer is not heating up.it turns on and runs but it just does not heat up i took off hose and clean . also looked in back of dyer by taking off clover to look for fuse please help .

Kenmore dryers have what we call a thermo fuse, usually on top on the burner area - I would check continuity on this unit and replace if nesessary.
If the thermo fuse is okay and dryer heats up with gas, check your igniter and/or gas unit coils.
If dryer heats up with electric elements check continuity at both element ends and/or high limit thermostat.

GOOD LUCK!

Dryer not heating up

Hi, If the dryer stops heating later in the cycle, it is most likely the coils on top of the gas valve. It is a very common issue with the gas dryer.
Here is how to change the coils
UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off. You will see the two black coils on the gas valve. When you remove the three wire coil, make sure the sleeve inside it gets put back on the post the coils slides onto.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Thanks

I have a Kenmore natural gas grill, model # 141-17227. I need the woners manual. The side burner will light but very low flame, cannot get the grill to light.

owners manual can be gotten through the internet- Sears.com find parts, type in model# of item, select manual sounds like valves are clogged- propaine and natural gasses are dirty gasses-no filter, it comes up out of ground, through dirty pipes, all the way to peoples homes- and thats why they have to replace valves on hot water tanks/furnuces........

Dryer heat turns off after about 5 min- dyer will remain running but no heat

HI, After the heat shuts down, do you hear a click like it is trying to heat again but then get no flame. The most some problem is the coils on the gas valve go bad and will not reopen after they have heated up.
Remove the cap on the front lower left panel. After dryer has ran and heat shuts down, watch and se if the ignitor glows again (you will hear a click) and the ignitor shuts off before a flame. If this happens, change the coils on th gas valve.
Here is instruction: Normal 0 UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners.
