if these fail to find or fix the problemhttp://majorgeeks.com/DriverMax_d5260.ht... Win7/Vista/XP Driver Max is a new tool that allows you to download the latest driver updates for your computer. No more searching for rare drivers on discs or on the web or inserting one installation CD after the other. Just create a free account, log in, and start downloading the updates that you need.
You can also export all your current drivers (or just the ones that work ok) to a folder or a compressed file. After reinstalling Windows you will have everything in one place!
Most of the situations when Windows is running slower are caused by faulty driver installations. Windows stores all versions of older drivers just in case you want to go back; sometimes it messes up older versions with more recent ones. The Export Wizard will only export the drivers you select by copying the needed files to a folder or a compressed ZIP file.
After reinstalling Windows all drivers will be back in place in less than 5 minutes - sparing you of searching, inserting disc after disk and losing precious time. The Import Drivers wizard allows you to install all the drivers that you exported earlier. The entire operation might take up to 5-10 minutes.
Just one single computer restart will be required after all drivers are reinstalled!
DriverMax is able to display a complete report of all drivers (versions, release dates) installed on your system. This feature can also be very useful when you want to analyze the differences between the drivers installed on different machines. Hope this helps

It identifies all the hardware in the system, extracts their associated drivers from the hard disk and backs them up to a location of your choice. Then when you format and reinstall/upgrade your operating system, you can restore all the "saved" drivers just as if you had the original driver diskettes in your hands. After one system reboot, your PC will be loaded and running with the required hardware drivers.

What's more, Driver Magician has a built in database of the latest drivers with the ability to go to the Internet to receive the driver updates. It saves lots of time to find the correct drivers and mature drivers will obviously increase the performance of hardware. If there are unknown devices in your PC, Driver Magician helps you detect them easily and quickly with its built in hardware identifier database.

You could use either of these to find and fix any hardware driver issue
    hope this helps you

1. Verify you are using the service pack that came out just before year 2000. It had improved USB support.
2. USB support was introduced to Windows in Windows 95b, it is possible your drive is a newer USB2 and not 1.1 and may not work in your machine.

XP won't recognize Simpletech Pininfarina 60 GB external hard dr

Make sure you are plugged into a USB2 port and not a low speed port.
You can Bing the device name and more than likely find the drivers at the origanial manf.
Try removing all other external devices before installing the new one.
Re-boot the unit with all disconnected.
After the until has setteled down, plug in your USB drive in the USB2 Port and see if the operating system see's the new installation.
If it is see correctly, then you can install your other devices.
Hope this helps you.
P.S. you may want to look at the jumper setting on the USB drive and set them to default.

Driver needed for 2gb kingston usb

If it is Win XP with SP1 ( check this - tight click My Computer, click Properties and check if it is Service Pack 1), then you need the latest SP from microsoft (that is SP3).

WinXP not recognizing USB drives, the SP is the most common cause I  have seen. Update to SP3 and it should solve your problem.
