Previous owner said it wouldnt stop stops now but takes three or four runs to dry clothes came with the house
If the vent and duct check out OK, look at the cycling thermostat. This is located on the blower housing, inside the dryer. These go bad often because the bi-metallic element in them goes bad or the switch physically expands from thermal expansion over the years and the plunger inside won't return to its proper position.
When these go bad, the dryer shuts the heating element off too soon and the air isn't heated up nearly enough to dry the clothes in one load.

Be sure to vacuum out any lint inside when you have the dryer open. Remember to disconnect all power before working on your dryer.
Good luck from Detroit, MI.
For the dryer to take to long to dry is usually a sign of the vent duct work being restricted with lint. Check the vent hose, outside vent door, and the internal duct for lint buildup.
