I'm trying to open the front face of my washer in order to clear the blockage from the drain, can you please help?

  • Anonymous Oct 21, 2011

I recently had the washer serviced and was told that problem (drain clogged with a sock, not fully draining) could be fixed by me next time by opening the front face and retrieving whatever is blocking the hose.

SOURCE: i need help getting the

If the model number is correct, this model washer's drain pump is accessed by removing the lower kick panel directly below the door. There are two screws holding it in place along the bottom front edge.

HINT: You may prop the two front feet of the washer up for better access to the screws (a 2 x 4 works well for this).

With the panel removed, locate the drain pump in the front under the wash tub. To clean out the pump on this type of washing machine, you need to remove the drain hose on the inlet side of the drain pump. This is the large black rubber hose that runs from the wash tub to the pump.

NOTE: Remove the clamp at the pump and clean out any debris in the hose and/or pump impeller. It is much easier to remove the clamp on the pump than it is to remove and reinstall the one on the wash tub.

HINT: If you own a wet/dry shop vac, remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum on the line to remove all residual water from the wash tub. This will save you from a mess of water to clean up. If you don't own a shop vac, you will need to lay down some towels to catch any residual water that remains in the wash tub and drain line. FYI: Residual water is normal.

If all these steps do not correct your drain problem, you will need to replace your drain pump.

A replacement can be found at pcappliancerepair.com for about $81. Just type in your model number and look under the "Motor/Tub" heading for item F35. Use the drawings provided as well to assist in parts location and assembly.

If you have questions, or if I have the wrong washer model, please post back and elaborate, so that I may assist you better. I hope you find this information helpful.

My Hotpoint washer wf860 saying error code f-05. How do I fix it?

Hi,
The error may mean failure of your washers pump.Causes maybe due to blockage by debris inside the pump. This causes a draining problem hence the error. You may need to open up the pump to remove the debris. Here's how to:
  • Face the washer from the back and the pump is at the bottom left.
  • Loosen the pump by sliding it to to the left.
  • Unscrew the three screws on it to view the inside.
  • Remove the debris inside and make sure it clear.
  • Return everything to its original positions and your machine is now set.
  • Try to run it.
Hope this helps.Thanks!

Machine had been giving E20 error code - filter cleared and it re-started ok. When wash was in progress - jammed at rinse stage and all lights came on (except spin speeds) and humming noise and nothing...

E20 is an error code for drainage failure.

Check where the appliance drain hose connects to the house drains for a blockage.

If it's onto a spigot under the sink, take them off and check both for a blockage.

If these are ok then it's likely to be a blockage in the pump.

You'll need to drain the water out manually.

Put a shallow dish below the filter and slacken the filter.

Tighten it to stop the flow of water while you empty the dish.

Once empty, take the filter out, clean out the debris and ensure nothing is left jamming the pump.

Before refitting the filter, put the machine on drain or spin and listen at the filter housing to see if you can hear the pump running.

If you do, fit the filter and try the machine again.

Washer will not drain

A maytag toploader that won't drain usually has one of only a few problems..
Open the machine by removing the 2 screws on the bottom of the front cover.
This will allow you to tip the front face forward from the bottom until it releases from the retainer clips on the top edge. This allows access to motor, pump, hoses, and belts.
Take the drive belts off the pulleys on the underside of the machine and inspect for damage, burn marks etc. replace if needed.
Inspect the pump (front right of base plate). The pump is transluscent so you can see if it's sucked a sock or something inside. Clear blockage if needed. Blockages usually cause the belts to burn. ... then you get a tub of water that won't drain.
If the belts are ok , and the pump is clear, squeeze the hose between the tub and pump and see if you can feel any blockage in the hose. Remove if necessary.
Lastly, if you take the 2 bolts from the top front corners out, you can tip the top of the machine back and expose the top of the drum. You can remove the cover and with a long piece of coat hanger wire with a small hook bent on one end, "fish between the inner and outer tub in the area near the drain hose. You may snag an article of clothing that went over the edge of the inner drum and is blocking the outer drum's drain.
Those are the main issues that will keep a Maytag from draining. Watch out for water leaking when you take those hoses loose!

Oe code

I had the same problem. First the grinding noise during the rinse cycle and then after four weeks the OE code. LG had a local repair service come out and he determined that the drain pump was dead and ordered a replacement. Still waiting on part after only 3 days.
