Acer laptops are equipped with a BIOS utility.
The BIOS (which stands for "Basic Input Output
System") acts as an interface between the hardware and software installed
on the computer.
On some computers, a BIOS password may be required in order
to boot the computer and make changes to the BIOS settings.
If you are unable to access the BIOS settings and do not
know how to reset the BIOS password, you might be tempted to send the computer
back to the manufacturer for repair.
Fortunately, that's not necessary as there is a simple way
to do this on your own.
Go to "Start," then perform a search for "Command Prompt."
The Windows Start button is located in the lower-left corner
of your computer screen.
Double-click on "Command Prompt" to open the
application.
You will need to use MS-DOS commands to reset the BIOS
password.
Type the following commands one by one in the order shown:
debug
o 70 2E
o 71 FF
quit
Make sure that you are typing the letter "o" and
not a zero at the beginning of the second and third commands.
Reboot your computer by clicking "Start,"
"Shutdown," and then "Restart."
The BIOS password will now be reset to default.
