Finally figured it out - the CMOS battery was dead although I would never have guessed it from IBM/Lenovo's message!

are you getting a date & time error ?. you could always try just resetting the bios.... remove the bios battery AND the battery itself for about five minutes or so. install it all again and boot up.

SOURCE: IBM Thinkpad will not hold date & time.

Sounds like a bad CMOS backup battery. If you look on the mother board there should be a small black chip (label BIOS usually) with a watch battery next to it. Replace it.

I personally recommend consulting IBM though if you're not very literate with computers.

Replace the backup battery and run BIOS Setup Utility to reset the time and date. This will resolve the issue.

Resource Conflicts errors for PCI in Slot 01

hey carl - first thing - laptop or desk top - if desk top (tower) remove all slotted cards and boot system - when it boots completely to home screen. shut down and insert 1 card at a time until you recieve you nasty screen. or boot into safe mode f10 or12 get in and disable all your cards -windows system- control panel - then turn on one by one doing a reboot - when you do find the conflicting card you should be able to figure which card or cards they conflict to - you will have to change the resource allocations on probable 2 or 3 cards to allow all to work - there all lots of sites that will explain this better - hope this helped

I forgot the master BIOS password. IBM thinkpad 2628. There`s no start possible. Additional I get several error information: Error 271 Ceck date and time settings Error 251 System CMOS checksumbad- default...

disconnect the intal cmos battery, there may be a jumper near by, j1 or something like unconnect the jumper, whilst the cmos battery is disconnected switch on the laptop, then let the post screen load, switch off, re-connect the cmos battery and re-enable the jumper, switch on, should work fine now, if you don't see the jumper, you won't be able to reset the bios password, refer to a service manual for your laptop model for the location of j1.

Bsod on a ibm thinkpad t30 xp sp3

Normally this indicates some kind of resource conflict between device. Could be you just updated drivers for a device, or a new device was installed/used.
From the device manager you should be able to find out which devices have a resource conflict.
Other details on the driver irql not less or equal error might help you as well.

IBM R32 1.8GHz Pentium 4 laptop - won't start up, hardware issue?

Hi PopRocks, your system errors show up as memory problems to windows errors & everything inbetween. If your notebook is in warranty, let the pro's fix it. If your notbook is out of warranty the best you can do is use the restore CD & format the drive in your system & fresh install windows. Load your CD or restore CD in to your CDROM drive. Your notebook should show the screen (to run from CD press any key...), (Press any key). Your restore CD / Windows should start to load. Follow the on screen instructions. If your notebook fails to load the cdrom press the F8 key every 2 seconds at start up. Choose your cdrom drive by moving the up & down arrow keys to highlite the cdrom & press enter.

Got my fingers crossed!
Luck....
Mike
