Once you have confirmed that the monitor is faulty after a test with another monitor of the monitor on another PC, the total loss of power can be due to failure of the power supply in the monitor. This is a switch mode pwer supply and in most cases the driver or the SM oscillator can fail. Attempt to probe only if you are equipped and aware of the SMPS basics.

I assume that your computer is actually turning on (power supply fan is running and CPU fan is running). If this is the case, then do this:
If the monitor is on, there should be a green or blue light on the front or the top to indicate it's getting a signal from the computer. If the light is amber, it means the monitor is on, but there is no signal.
If there is no light, test with a second monitor. If the second monitor works, then your monitor is dead. It needs to be repaired or replaced.
Assuming that the monitor has a light on it (probably amber) then you need to open the computer and disconnect everything but the CPU, video, and memory. Now try to turn it on. If it does not turn on, but all the fans are running, then the culprit is the CPU or the memory or the motherboard. In rare instances, it's the power supply.
If with all this stuff disconnected, you get video, then the problem lies with one of the devices you disconnected. The most common is the CD/DVD.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions

even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause this problem or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

hope this helps you

Monitor wont power off

The blue light probably simply means that the computer is not turned on, but the monitor is. Just turn off the monitor, and the blue light should go away.

AL 1706 troubleshouting monitor wont turn on green

If your monitor shows a yellow light and it won't turn green, the problem most likely lies with the computer. If your computer is not sending a signal to the monitor, then you have a computer problem. One way to test this is to turn the monitor off and the computer off, too.
Turn the monitor on and if it is working, it should display a message telling you that there is no signal. If you see that message, you can assume the monitor is working. If you do see it, now turn on the computer and see if the message changes.
If you turn the monitor on and you get no message, you can assume the problem lies with the monitor itself.
If you have access to another monitor, hook that one up to test the computer output.

You can now either get the monitor fixed or the computer fixed, depending on which one is bad.

Monitor wont come out of sleep mode

One possiblility will be the failing power supply due to bad caps (leaking/bulging tops). You can take a look inside first before making the decison to buy a new one or not.

Dell computer monitor wont come on when I turn

When you turn on most dell monitors they come on with a yellow light, then turn green when the monitor and video source synch. If your light is not turning from yellow to green, your monitor is either dead or not getting a signal from the video source it's plugged into. Verify in your BIOS settings that you have selected to output video through an installed card and not from the motherboard source. If the BIOS settings are correct, your monitor has died. If the light is turning green after you turn the computer on, press the menu button on the monitor and adjust the brightness/contrast until you have a picture. If you don't see anything when the menu button is pressed, then again your monitor is likely dead.

The monitor light does not turn on!

Connect another external working monitor to the computer, if the other works then get lamps and inverter replaced.
