Beans grind and are wet but coffee doesn't come out... it goes through the cycle and spits out a little. When cycle is complete, the water light comes on, but after priming the same thing occurs.

  • Anonymous Oct 22, 2011

Thanks for your advice. I've done both things recommended - just a few drops of brownish water comes when using the manual function and then the primer error occurs. I've cleaned the screen as well., You mentioned cleaning the discharge tube... how do I do that? Thank you so much for your help.

This tells me that either the grind is too fine and or the brew unit screen, and discharge tube needs to be cleaned. Try this first press the button for making a espresso using the manual function, do not add coffee through the door then press the brew button. If water flows freely then the grind is too fine, if you get the water prime error then the screen under the red o-ring on the brew unit needs to be cleaned.

To clean the discharge, remove the brew unit, find the 2 screws above the red o-ring that leads to the spout. Remove screws carefully, there is a spring and ball in there depending on model. Remove spring and ball and clean out tube, make sure water flows freely from tube to screen. Reassemble and brew a coffee using the preground method without coffee.

Delonghi autentica coffee machine seems to make shorter coffees and the grounds are very wet recently. Cleaned it out but no improvement. Ideas?

First, I'm not a Delonghi technician.
* pour pour, shot, puck, etc. are signs of an improperly prepared espresso. This can be caused by many things but since this is an robotic machine that performs the same time and time again then lets assume for now that the machine is working properly. If the machine is at fault then it will require service from your vendor or directly from the MFR.
* Did you change beans? Poor quality beans are usually easy to spot; Lighter color beans, Multi-color, very oily (shiny ok but not dripping like butter), flavored beans (poor quality bean with flavor added). All automatic espresso or cappuccino machines are expected to have Espresso roast with French roast or at least a Dark roast as the basis for any coffee beverage. Lesser roasts; regular, mild, house roast tend to make a poor cup. Clean out all old coffee and replace with a high quality ESPRESSO roast coffee (Lavazza is a good example) Run machine through 3 or more cycles to flush out old beans and oils. It may take 10 or more cycles so be patient.
* Did you change water source? Since this is a table top machine in which you fill the water tank. Try to use filtered (bottled ok) water. Do Not use Distilled or 100% pure water as this type of water will eat out the metals from your machine! Some places use a water softener as it tends to be better for the machine long term (years).
* Finally; Beans and Water are the two things you can control. If your still having problems then lets look at the machine: Can you reset it to original factory settings? Do so and check results. If it's okay then SLOWLY make your changes one at a time till you get the best result or stop if it gets worst. Note: once set to your liking then DON'T change beans or water as it will change everything. (even a batch of beans can be bad. Stay with a reputable coffee roaster!)
* Still got problems? Check with vendor or MFR for service or replacement. Most machines of this type do not have serviceable parts or adjustments.
P.S. Wet pucks are a sign of too little ground coffee for a standard shot or the puck is not being pressed down to the standard (compacting) coffee dose. Too large a grind with too little coffee for standard dose. If your changed the settings on your machine then you will need to reset it to factory settings and start over again.
Otherwise most of these settings are fixed and your unit will need servicing from your vendor or directly from MFR.

Hi,

There are whole coffee beans, and there are ground coffee beans, but there is no such thing as "pre-ground" coffee beans because you wouldn't want the beans to be ground AFTER making coffee.

If you have a problem using "pre-ground" beans, then STOP using pre-ground beans and grind them yourself.

I hope this helps.

Hi...Keep on grinding until the Auto Dosing System readjust the amount of grind to be in the optimum. Normally it takes 3 to 4 grinds. Whenever we change the type of beans, this condition happens, it is not a problem.

Saeco Incanto Rondo right red light is on and I cannot make coffee. The machine grinds the beans but does not dispense any coffee.

Try to set the machine to grind finer. Common problem with this machine when the grinder grinds too coarse, and the coffee will not fit in the brew unit during the cycle. Grinding finer will allow the brew unit to compress and the machine should complete the cycle.

If this does not work there may be another thing to try, Let me know [email protected]

Hi Bill
What happens when you do a tea ? (hot water only, NOT the steam button) do you also get little water ?
The fact that you are getting steam is good as there are 2 heating systems in the unit.
Have you ran the descaling recently (if you do not use filter ) ?
If you have or use a filter the problem is likely to be at the rear of the machine, however the back contents all the power and you will need to be happy to do some stripping down of the machine,
In the back you have the pump, valves, heater etc.
I am just about to draw up a flow chart of the water system inside the machine and have it published online (couple of days).
Are you happy to strip machine down ?

My Jura S9's grinding unit clogged (due to Peete's beans)

Usually water in the grounds container is caused by the coffee solenoid valve return side being blocked from dry coffee. Using cleaning tubelets to clean the coffee grounds out. If that doesn't work then you should remove the solenoid and clean it out with warm water. If that still doesn't rid you of the wet grinds you should have a certified repair tech take a look at it. You may end up having to replace the solenoid but that should be verified by a tech before you spend the money.

Hello. I have a saeco vienna superautomatic

This happens due to condensation caused by steam developed at the end of the grinding cycle. Make sure that the grinding chamber is completely cleaned and dried before using the grinder.

  1. Turn the whole bean chamber to the right until it can be lifted off the base. This will allow you to clean the grinding wheel. NOTE: Never use water or liquid for cleaning the lower grinding section of this appliance.
  2. Clean interior recesses with a soft brush (not provided).
  3. Wash the whole bean chamber and lid and the ground coffee chamber and lid in mild detergent and water. These items are only dishwasher safe on the top rack of your dishwasher. Wipe exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse mill in water or any other liquid or place in dishwasher. Use only non-abrasive cleaners to remove stains.
  4. After completely drying, replace whole bean chamber. Important: when replacing whole bean chamber, screw on completely before setting grinding rate. Turn chamber clockwise (as viewed from top), until it will not turn. Fill with whole coffee beans for grinding and replace lid.
  5. Replace ground coffee chamber and lid, making sure it snaps securely into place.
