After a load is completed, the door latch lever fails to release the locked door. Door will open reluctantly if hard lateral pressure is applied to left side of door.

I threw caution to the winds and removed the outer panel of the appliance. The plastic latching handle practically fell out--it was broken. Called all local parts suppliers--none had any parts in stock for this dishwasher. Called the manufacturer, who had a part listed on his computer at a distant location. Ordered it, paid for it, and was assured the part would be received within 2 days. Incidentally, you can't order just a replacement latching handle. It is included as part of a component.

Oven latch will not open

Sometimes the latch arm is bent causing the latch release not to clear the hook on the door. If the arm goes under the front it is probably bent. Carefully pull the arm back toward the locked position and try to bend it back a small amount and see if the door will open after moving the arm back to the open position. If that fails sometimes you can insert a bent coat hanger between the door and the latch hook and move the latch enough to unlock the door. I hope this helps

Maytag Neptune front loader door latch won't release

rewpa, 98% chance the door latch has stuck in the locked position. Yes, follow Maytags suggestion to access the "rip cord" for the door latch... (this is the mechanical override for it) to get the door open. After it's open, run another load of wash and see if it happens again. If it does, it is the door latch assy. that's the problem. BTW, the door lock light is activated by a switch in the door latch assy. There's a "motor" in the assy... it's made of WAX! Yes, a "wax motor". Before the computer goes into spin, it sends 120V to this motor. The electricity heats the wax and it expands. As it expands, it pushes a plunger forward. This plunger trips both the door lock AND the switch. This sends the signal to the door light AND the computer saying "I'm locked! Go ahead and Spin!" When the cycle is complete, the computer drops the voltage to the wax motor. The wax cools off and contracts. This retracts the plunger... opening the door and shutting off the light. So... if this light stays on, the plunger is still extended and can be overridden using the rip cord. If this happens again, let me know and I'll step you through disassembly and replacement of the wax motor.

Oven door latch will not release so that I can open the door

Try jiggling the door by the handle. Jiggle it hard, both sideways, in/out and up/down. The little piece in there that releases the door may just be stuck, and didn't move quite far enough to let the door open. These things happen.

My car door does not close, door lock is jamb

Check the latch assembly where the door closes. If the latch claw is closed it won't latch. Make sure the door is unlocked. Insert a screwdriver into the middle of the claw (circular opening where the striker latches). Open the door handle from inside or outside and pull sideways on the latch it should pop open. If it doesn't then the lock mechanism is in the lock position. Remove door panel follow lock rod to the latch and manually try to move the lever to the unlock position. If all fails you probably will need a new latch assembly.

Door remains locked after cycle ended

Possible that the safety link lever is not disengaging . The program is not fully completing to release or the lever is stuck within the loading door latch.
you will need to look at releasing by using a scewdriver from below , the oil and set after inspection of the latch.

Cannot open rear hatch. have all internal panels off and can manipulate cable attachment to the locking mechinism but door still does not release. Im thinking that I will have to cut out lock mechnism just...

You can pry open the latch with a screw driver or lastly grind the latch. Try grabbing rod or cable with locking pliers and try pulling while prying at the same time.

Kenmore front load washer door

A lot of these errors on these front loaders can be resolved by simply unplugging the washer for 30 minutes to reset the computer. You may also attempt to manipulate the door latch by using the manual release lever to see if you can get the latching mechanism to stay open. The following link explains how to do this:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r622155-kenmore_elite_whirlpool_duet_door_jammed

This is normally used when the door is latched with the door shut, but it still may apply in your case. If you attempt any of these preliminary checks and the latch still does not work properly, I would recommend replacing it. The next link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587965-door_latch_replacement_fdl_error

Hopefully you will not require any replacement parts. But, if you do, a replacement latch can be found at searspartsdirect.com or repairclinic.com. Just type in your complete model number to perform a search for parts. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

Drivers side door is stuck and won't open at all. I beleive it ha something to do with the locking mechanism. How can this be repaired?

It may be as simple as adjust ing the rods that actuate the mechenism, or it may be that you need to replace the assembly.
Try cleaning and lubricating it first, Once you do get it open, tighten any attaching bolts and / or screws. Then you need to do a visual inspection to see if the rods are moving far enough.
