I have a compaq presario SR1303 Wm Desktop I wont connect to internet, stating that local area cable is unplugged, however this isn't true because I have another desktop same model that works fine...

If all looks good try right clicking on network status icon in sys tray and use repair. A more advance option would be to use ipconfig from the command prompt.

Start > Run (search in Win 7) > type ipconfig /release. Then ipconfig /renew. ipconfig ? will show you all the options. Good luck.

Integrated ethernet card on Compaq Model SR1650NX apparently failed. What is best inexpensive PCI Ethernet Card to use, if any?

you can buy just about any PCI NIC card from ebay or even walmart and they should work. make sure they are compatible with your OS. it will say on the box.

As long as you have an empty PCI slot (white) you can buy any brand wireless card or even a USB wireless adapter

The onboad NIC card is not recognised by device manager when I reinstalled windows xp SP2. I've downloaded the correct NIC card drivers for a presario SR2020NX directly from their website. When I look...

Uninstall the drivers for the device completely and restart the system. It should install the correct drivers upon restart. If not, retry installing the NIC card drivers that you download.

Are you sure that you download the ethernet drivers and not the Utility program? It's easy to confuse the two.

2 NICs connecting to 2 different networks

you need to speak to your network administrator, for printers you get network enabled printers ( your network admin will assign an IP address and sharenames for your printers,

your network admin can create shared volumes on the network and can sort out internet routing that complies with the corporate domain.

sorry no easy way to do this
