Nikon speedlight sb-800

Hi for some reason my Nikon speed light SB-800 will not turn on. I have charged and recharged the batteries the power still want turn on

  • Pachi4021 Dec 20, 2008

After not using my NIKON SpeedLight SB 800 for a couple of months. it turned on but did not flash. I could change the settings but no flash. Changing the batteries I noticed a white residue on the battery latch. I cleaned it and changed the batteries then it just would not tern on. I have not been able to turn it on since then.

Sometimes if keep messing with it (shaking, cussing, and holding my mouth in different positions) it will eventually power up. Once the connection is made it works fine. I just dread the next time I have to replace batteries.

THE PROBELM COULD BE IN MAIN BOARD OR THE BATTERY CONATCTS NEED ADJUSTING

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2008

Be sure to check and see if the batteries are in corectly and also if the battery are clean and are not bent down to where they don't make contact.

If this doesn't fix your probelm then the probelm could be a fuse onn the main board or the cpu is defective .

Hello. The batteries on my speedlight discharge

if you are using regular batteries I can't help you, but if your using rechargeable batteries then the cause is old batteries, after many charges they don't charge well anymore. and you need to replace them

My sb will power on but i have no flash even when i hit the test button. I noticed it got a little warm then shut down when the problem first occured. Is it fried or fixable?

Are you using fresh batteries? Are they rechargeable batteries if so do a battery test maybe a battery is weak. With fresh batteries it still does the same thing then call Nikon 1-800-645-6689

I have a Nikon D40x with a Nikon Speedlight SB-800. The speedlight is not working. I have the camera on, new batteries in the speedlight and speedlight on. Not powering up. Is there some secret battery...

With new batteries in the flash, and it being off camera what happens when you press the test button. If still it does not flash call Nikon 1-800-645-6689

Nikon Speedlight SB-27 TTL... Problem

This flash unit will flash the red light until the capacitor is charge. Also the mode your shooting will flash. What exactly is flashing?

Ready light on my SB-800 speedlight

put in a fresh set of batteries. The ready light won't turn on until the flash capacitor is fully charged. And if your battery is weak, it can take very long (minutes!) to fill the capacitor. You still can fire the flash even it is not ready, it will just dump whatever power it stored in the capacitor.

Nikon SB-800 Defect

Have you tried other batteries?

If one cell has died, there will be enough power to power up the flash, but not enough to charge it reasonably fast. It may also stop the other cells charging up properly if they are charged together. I've had this problem with poor quality rechargeables before. I think flashguns put pretty heavy demands on batteries.
