Do not put a PCI-e card in a PCI slot. It will not fit and the card won't work. The PCI card has 58 or 60 pins on each side with the slot (62 pins would be present if not for the key notches for alignment). PCIe 16x cards have 32 pins.

There are adapters to put a PCI card in a PCIe 1x slot (will fit any PCIe slot) or a PCIe1x card in a PCI slot. See http://www.amfeltec.com/index.php for a sample of the adapters. For the PCIe 16x cards, you need a new motherboard.

If you are placing a PCI-e 16x card in a PCIe 16x slot or a PCI card in a PCI slot, then open the side of your case. Locate the matching slot (remove the current card) or an empty slot depending on your motherboard. Depending on the case, you may need to remove a screw to remove the old card. Wiggle the card straight up to remove it. If you are putting in a new card, you will need to remove the cover from the slot. (For some larger PCIe 16x cards, you need to remove the adjacent slot cover as well.) Some covers just pull straight up or pry a lever up and then pull; for others, you will need to use a screwdriver to break the cover out. Make sure there is sufficient room near the slot for the card. (You may need to move other cards around.)

Then line up the card so that the back of the card will fit into the opening and the contacts on the bottom of the card are above the center of the slot. Firmly press the card down into the slot without changing the alignment. You may need to wiggle it (press down on the back and front, alternatingly). Then make sure the card is fully seated. Attach the addtional power cord from your power supply, if needed for a PCIe 16x card.

Close your case. Then if this is a new video card, turn on the computer and enter the BIOS (press F1, F2, F10, Esc depending on the machine). Disable the on-board video. Then reboot the computer and load the drivers you need for the card.

I hope this helps.

Hello,I can't connect this card to PCIex16 female J41

You can't use that card in a PCI express slot because that specific video card uses an AGP connector (which is no longer a supported card interface). You will need to use a motherboard that has an AGP slot.

Are pci and pci-e cards the same

No the cards are not the same. One has 62 pins on each side of the card (minus a cutout for a key with the slot) and the other has 32 pins (PCIe 16x) or fewer. They have different power requirements and won't fit directly in the other slot. There are adapters for PCI-e 1x cards to use them in a PCI slot and adapters to put a PCI card in a PCI-e 1x slot. See any of the component vendors for details.

Make sure to order a card that will fit in your computer's slots. It will save you trying to determine if the card, slot or adapter has failed.

I hope this helps.

How to Install a PCI Serial Port on an HP Compaq dc7700p small form factor

That "PCI Serial Port" is probably part of a PCI modem that is connected into a PCI slot on the motherboard.

Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.hp.com
and enter 'dc7700p' and do a search for device-drivers for your computer.
Download the device-driver. Install it.

I have the Board ASUS P5VDC-MX. And I wonder that there is no pci-e slot, but in the information there is written:"this board is pci-e (16x) ready".... is it right ? Can i use a pci-e (16x) video...

No, you can't use a PCIe x16 card in any of the slots on the P5VDC-MX board. A PCIe x16 card can't fit into the PCIe x1 slot. Attempting to force a PCIe x16 card into the PCIe X1 slot will break the card or bend the pins. A PCIe x1 card will work in a PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slot, though. Similarly, the AGP and PCI slots are not compatible with the PCIe x16 card design.

I wish that I had better news for you.

We have an emachine w3400 and need and new video card but don't know if it is PCI standard or PCI express how do i find out?

The eMachines W3400 desktop computer has an MSI MS-7145 motherboard.
(MSI = Micro Star International, Inc)

This is the MSI MS-7145 motherboard,

http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socket754/msi7145.shtml

The MSI MS-7145 motherboard, has one PCI Express x16 expansion slot, which is used for a graphics card.

Viewing the bottom left of the photo, you will see three white PCI slots.

Right above them is a longer white slot.
This is a PCI Express x16, expansion slot.

Scrolling down to the subheading - Expansion Slots,
You will see - One PCI Express 16x slot, listed.

Should you require information in installing a PCI Express graphics card, or information on which PCI Express graphics card may fit your needs, state so in a Comment.

How to use ISA Slot in PCI Slot

There is an adapter available if you look on computer sites for product purchases, try to google it as there or companies than make such items, might be harder to find as PCI and ISA are older connectors and even AGP is begin phased out an PCI express is the lading connector. Google ISA to PCI adapter and see what you can get your compangies to pruchases from. Your local computer hardware shop might have it call first and ask before driving out there, If you find nothing try calling Tigerdirect as they might have older stock, you never know, If to no avail you will have to try and locate an older Motherboard with the two conncectors on it and run that if possible, or find this certain ISA card you're talking about in PCI. Good luck! :)
