My printer is not powering up nor displaying any error message since I changed the yellow ink for it. When you try to power the printer, the power light comes on as well as the hp logo on the display. However, after 5 secs the power light goes off leaving only the hp logo on the display. After 15 - 20 secs the power light comes back, flashes 3 times then disappears again. This continues in a cycle for as long as the printer is plugged in. Any ideas? I do not even get an error message to work with. I have tried to reset the printer using the "#" and "6" combination without success.

There is one fix for the 0x errors and it doesn't always work but this is the only option.

Press and hold the "*" key. Press the "#" key and release both keys.
Display should say "Enter Special Key Combo"
Press and release in sequence the "1", "2" and "3" buttons.
Display should say "Support" and display the FW rev (something like R0631R)
Mine reads R0631M
. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says "System Configuration Menu".
Press and release the "OK" button.
Display should say "Hardware failure status". If not there already, Arrow Key over to "Hardware failure status",
Press and release the "OK" button.
Display should say "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear".
Press and release the "OK" Button. Message changes to "Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue".
Press and release the "CANCEL" button as many times as necessary, so that, either the "Welcome to Photosmart Express" screen appears, or, the "Ink System Failure" screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.
Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.
Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer.
Turn the unit on. The printer may display message "USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER" followed by "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE". Press OK. The Printer will start the "ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS". Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page. Good Luck!

Nice, detailed, accurate procedure. This worked for my HP Photosmart C7180 all-in-one printer.

My question is... WHY did this work... what, if anything was broken? If there was some HARDWARE (whether electronics or ink) that was malfunctioning, then pushing a bunch of buttons shouldn't have fixed that without some kind of actual hardware fix. And if it was a SOFTWARE problem, then shouldn't I have been able to fix it by simply cycling the power?

It almost feels like this is some kind of "planned obsolescence" on the part of HP?

Actually if you have a 3210 series the thing you want to try is press on the OK button and the cancel button at the same time and hold it down until the printer shuts off. then press the on button. That should take care of it.

.photosmart c6180 ink system has failed unable to copy recieve fax or printerror 0xc18a001

As always I start with the dreaded question. Did you use a refilled cartridge in your printer? If so, remove it and install a new HP cartridge. Recycled cartridges are famous for this type of failure. By the way the error code is a Windows error code. If you haven't found a solution to the " ink system failure " yet, it is quite easy to reset (using the buttons) on HP C7180. You can find the reset instructions on my website: http://www.inkbank.com.au/webcontent21.htm

HP photosmart c6180 all in one printer error message of 0xc19a0035, ink system has failed. unable to copy, receive faxes, or print. what can i do to fix it?

Hello,

The "Ink System Failure" error is caused by air in the ink fed tubes. We have a step by step guide to perform a ink purge on the printer posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/category/printer-repair/hp-printer-repair/ Following this procedure should get your printer back running in about 10 minutes.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
