Question about Xerox Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

We have a Xerox M20 Copier/Scanner/Fax/Email which we have always used strictly as a copier. We need to use it as a scanner, to reduce paper in the office and access/share documents electronically. I upgraded the Xerox copier with the Xerox Network Accessory Kit and connected it to the router so I can now print anything from my computer to the Xerox copier. I installed the Scan drivers and scanning software (Scansoft OmniPage SE 2.0/PaperPort 9.0) which was included with the purchase of the copier. The connection from the computer to the Xerox works great. But connect get a clear connection from the scanner to my computer. Copier is always on and does not have a separate scanning button to activate scanner. Whenever I use the OCR wizard to connect the OmniPage software to the Xerox copier it says the (Port is disabled; it cannot find the scanner). The port is open because I can print to the copier. All the instructions say is make sure the scanner is on. The scanner is part of the copier and is never turned off. Any ideas on how to fix this problem. I would love to start scanning documents, but cannot get bidirectional connection to work. Thanks so much for any input.

To scan a document to file (Scan to File), the WorkCentre must be directly connected to the workstation using a USB or parallel connection. Scan to File is not supported over an Ethernet connection.

My xerox work centre 4118 is locked How am I going to unlock it

Do you mean your "Scanner" is locked? Were the paper exits to the left of the opening there should be a sliding switch. I suggest that you should use a flashlight to locate it This is the locking mechanism that once toggled , it will unlock the scanner. Remember to turn-off the printers power before attempting this.

I hope this resolves your problem, Steve

22-511 error

On the right side of your paper tray, where the "Transperancy/Paper" selector is, if you look, there should be a plug covering one of the two holes above the switch. This error is typically caused by this plug breaking out.

How do I print labels using the bypass tray on Xerox phaser 3635?

All I can add to your question is from my experience.
Make sure you have the recommended labels installed.
The fuser can cause jams when not using the correct recommended stock.
Very old labels tend to ooze a small amount of glue along the edges and can get stuck to the inside.
Print as you would do on paper, perhaps try printing on some white 80 GSM stock and hold them up to the light to check alignment.
Good luck.

How to print labels?

It is recommended that the bypass (paper) tray be used for labels.

Place the sheets into the bypass with the labels side down.

Be careful NOT to overload the paper tray.

You have to be careful to use labels that are rated for laser printers, Verify that your labels' adhesive material can tolerate fusing temperature of 200C (392F) for 0.1 second.

Last thing to check is that the sheets don't have any curling (of the labels or of the backing sheet) as this will cause jams in the machine.

Job failed because scan name is invalid

Hi Anonymous / Kenneth,
I assume you must have this problem sorted by now. ( 2012.)
Perhaps there's a firmware up grade you could look into?
Perhaps you must have to check this problem with your Xerox Concessionaire.
Good luck.

We have hosted Exchange email and I've been tasked with getting a xerox 3635mfp to scan to email. So far no luck even though I believe I've input all the correct information.

for scanning with Xerox MFP it is convenient to use MFP TWAIN Importer ( ) It allows scanning from Xerox MFP directly to user's workstation with secure way and without any additional efforts.
