The batteries are connected in series (6V + 6V+ 6V +6V +6V +6V), Select only two batteries (CONNECTED TO EACH OTHER in series FROM POSITIVE TO NEGATIVE (last two batteries preferred) and run two wires (one black one red) from the positive (red) and the negative (black). purchase two switches one MOMENTARY PUSH BUTTON AND ONE TOGGLE. Split the two wires by ADDING another length to the middle of each wire respectively Add the switching devices by connecting the red wire to one of the terminals. The other terminal will then receive Another length (red) to be the connected the same way to the horn (push button switch) The black wires (ground) are to be connected to the other terminal of the horn and light. NOTE: it is advisable to add a 15A in line fuse to the red wire near the battery.

My golf cart has six, 6 volt batteries connected in a chain, positive to negative throughout. Can I connect an auxiliary light of some type to this power source?

the cart is wired for 36 volts operation so you would need a 36 volt bulb
or
you could put the wiring for a 12 volt bub across the terminals of 2 batteries so the negative wire will be on a negative terminal of the first battery and a fused positive wire will be on the positive of the second battery
the batteries are connected in series so the sum total of the voltage is the sum of all of the batteries
by selecting 2 batteries in series you are using the sum voltage of 2 batteries

I need to know wires to to the key switch on my western golf cart

The battery wire goes to one side, the other goes to the starter (if gas) or the controller f/r switch (if electric). Any other wires that control 12 volt accessories that are "switched" will go to the same lug as the controller f/r switch. Wires that control accessories that can stay "hot" regardless of the key switch will usually go directly to the batteries. Be careful that you hook to the proper voltage on the batteries. They are wired in series, so two 6 volt batteries wired together will give you 12 volts...........any two batteries, as long as the cables connect them together. If you have 12 volt batteries and a 12 volt accessory (like a stereo or electric horn), you need only to wire across one battery.

Trying to hook 12 volt lights to a 36 volt golf cart

The exact answer depends on what battery voltage you have but this hint will get you going.
Assuming you have 3 12v batteries, just wire to the first battery + - and you'll have 12 v. If you have 6 6v batteries, wire to the first + and the second -. If you have a voltage meter, you can verify the voltage of my suggestion.
This will work for lights and other resistance circuits but not for sensitive items like radios.
Golf cart batteries are series wired to get the higher voltage.
If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.

Want to connect electric lights to ez-go electric golf cart. It is a six battery system and I want to simply add a front light and rear red light.

You said you have 6 batteries. Are they 6 volt or 8 volt? Hint-- 6 volt has three holes in the top and an 8 volt has 4 holes on top of the battery. Battery manufacturers recommend the use of a voltage reducer wired to the whole bank. This take the 36 or 48 volts down to 12 volts and is regulated. this is recommended so as not to stress just 2 batteries. If you have 6 volt batteries, you can use any 2 that are wired in series.
