Change the resolution through your Cable / Satellite box - Go into the menu. Most of the Akai tv sets do not have an option to change the resolution.

I sounds like a bad filter in the sudio supply circuit finally took out the sound output chip or the power supply that controls the sound circuit. its a soliud state set and there are no user replaceable parts inside this set.
