After the power went out this morning our Zephyr hood lights and fan don't work at all. There is a faint glow on the digital display but the fan and lights don't respond to pressing the control buttons.

Your problem is: After the power went out your Zephyr hood lights and fan don't work at all. There is a faint glow on the digital display but the fan and lights don't respond to pressing the control buttons.
First check the circuit breaker. If OK then check the transformer in the unit. It's next to the fan motor. If no power on the high side then you have a loose or broken connection. If you have no power on the low side the you have a bad transformer. If OK then you have a bad control board.

Thanks for the information. I now know more than I did before about this unit. Meanwhile, I called Zephyr in San Francisco and they called me back! The solution was to turn the breaker off and wait a few minutes (25-30 was recommended but it didn't take that long) and turn it back on. This worked. The technicial expert at Zephyr explained that this is a saftely feature of the device and this is how it responds to power off situations sometimes.
