"NO READ" on Panasonic DMR-EZ27 DVD Recorder

Help! My Panasonic DMR-EZ27 DVD Recorder shows "NO READ", I tried to use all kind of disc/ movies into, but nothing is working. Since it's a "NO READ", so it even couldn't read the DVD cleanning disc (to clean the reading head).
Any ideas? How can I fix it? I still have some of the recorded DVD discs need to be finalized.
Please anyone could help me, thanks!!!!!!!!! After about a year of use my Panasonic DMR-EH65 DVD Recorder has stopped while recording a DVD and now does not read any disk at all. Whether there is a disk or not in the tray, when the tray is closed it makes sound like it is trying to read the disk and shows "NoREAD" on the display. All other functions (tuner, HDD recording and playback, etc) seem to work fine. Just cannot play or record any DVD disk.

I have seen others report this problem with other Panasonic DVD Recorders but have not seen anybody post what they have done to fix the problem. If anybody has taken their unit to the Panasonic Service Center, I would like to know what they said the problem is and how much the cost would be to repair.

I have opened the cover of the unit and cleaned the cable ends of the four cables that are coming from the drive to the main board even before I posted the problem here. I have not yet opened the cover of the drive which seems to be the only way to reach the optical pickup cable and the lens. I will try that and see if it works.

Since I have seen this issue posted by many users of Panasonic DVD recorders, I thought somebody would have taken it to the Panasonic service center and got it reapired or at least got quoted for repair at which time they would know if Panasonic thinks a part needs to be replaced.

    Thanks for your input.

I have the same problem. suddenly he doesn't recognize DVD+R and DVD-RW discs.

In the menu then the DVD management part is missing so I cannot format the disc. Movies bought in a shop still play.

    Thanks in advance

It does not read any disk. It says no read. Panasonic sent me firmware on a CD but of course the dvd does not read any disk so bad luck. Then the solution is to send ti to Panasonic repair center at a cost of $130 + taxes. For that price I can get a new DVD recorder. No more Panasonic

White colour displaying as pink on DVD recorder DMR-EX77EB, problem just started a few weeks ago.

Very similar problem with my DMR-EZ27. About 10 minutes into playing back a DVD the color starts going away until I only see a black/white movie. Sometimes color comes back in partially then back to b/w

Dmr-ES30V Dvd plays pre record movies fine but I

Try a different brand of blank dvd+r or -r. you will find that your dvd machine is fussy on what discs it plays. More exspensive dvd players are fussy with what dvd discs you put in, as cheaper dvd players would virtualy play most types of dvds.

I recently bought a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-EZ27. And it does not read blank DVD's. I've tried different brands of DVD-R's, DVD R's, and DVD-RW's. However it will play and recognize pre-recorded DVD's....

The problem still is;nt fixed. I bought the dvd recorder from a person that buys customer returns at an auction. I contacted him and he offered to give me a full refund or another recorder. He thought it might be a software problem. Thanks for getting back to us on this problem.

PANASONIC DVD RECORDER DMR EZ27

I had the same problem with my first unit, took it back they had to unscrew it all to get me back my DVD. They gave me a new machine. Checked it out seems it's a Auto Tuning problem, i went into the menu and restricted the auto tuning, problem is now, every time i switch it on it wants to update the tuning!! Pain in the ass. Contemplating taking it back again. Panasonic said it must be a one off, they hadn't had any other complaints!! Yeah right.
