SOURCE: which subs to use with the rf punch 8002

You should get the dual 4 ohm version of subs and wire them both in parrallel and series for a 4 ohm load to that amp, Bridge the amp and your subs should be seeing about 960 watts true rms.

Is the p3001 bridageable?

The Punch P3001 is a 2 ohm stable monoblock amplifier. It therefore has only 1 channel. Not bridgeable.

Below are the specs off the rockford site.

  • Punch P3001 - 300 watt mono amplifier

    150x1 @ 4 ohms, 300x1 @ 2 ohms, 12dB/oct HP/AP/LP crossover variable 40-400Hz, RCA inputs, RCA pass thrus, cast aluminum heatsink, military spec PCB, and remote Punch Bass EQ with 0-18dB @ 45Hz. H 2.4" x W 11" x L 11.7"

  • If you are using your amplifier at a 4 ohm impedance then you will only have 150 Watt delivered to your woofer or woofers. If you are running your amplifier at a 2 Ohm load you will be recieving 300 Watt to them. This however will also draw more current to deliver this power.

If you are certain that you can deliver the correct current to the amplifier and you are running a 4 Ohm configuartion. Then consult a Rockford delaer for a sub upgrade.

Wiring for 2 subs for max performance

This amp is rated at 500 watts into a 4 ohm load bridged mono or 250 watts x 2 into 2 ohm load stereo. Do not go below that impedance in either case. The amp was meant to dissipate a certain amount of power, driving it to hard will lead to damage. Your speakers look like they are dual voice coils @ 4 ohms each. To get the max power while still saving your subs would be to parallel the voice coils on each woofer then run them in stereo with your amp. Stereo 2 ohm is 250 watts per speaker.

I get a better sound with my 250.2 than with my 500a2

Rockford Fosgate was bought out over 10 years ago. the amps you have are from that era. Its probable that the 250.2 was made before the change over, and is just a better quality amp. the a series amplifiers were some of the first produced by the "new" Rockford Fosgate, and they sucked, along with most of their products since.

Can a rf 201s amp push 4-6x9s and 4-104s door speakers

    Hello jon_jonmay,

Wiring 4 speakers to each of 2 channels, you will need to wire them series-parallel and run them at 4 ohms. If you wire all 4 parallel, the load will be 1 ohm and the amp is only stable down to 2 ohms.

According to your manual, the 201s will deliver 50 watts into each channel at 4 ohms . So it will be supplying about 12.5 watts per speaker which is about what you get with the average factory radio. They will work OK, but they're not going to be very loud.

    Hope this helps.

    Wiring configuration 800a2

3 ohms per channel or 6 ohms bridged are the only options. 3 ohms per channel is a better option.

    Sub woofer wiring

If you have a 500a2 and two 4 ohm single voice coil speakers, you have only one option. Connect one speaker to each channel.
