You said all other games work fine on your video game apart from the one you rented from Family Video. I think the game you rented is not compatible with your video game.
Take the game back to Family video, return the game and collect another one. Or test the game with scrambled picture on a friend or family's game and observe if it's going to play with the scrambled picture or not.
This is to verity if the problem is from the game or from the disc. But from my own point of view, I think the game disc is incompatible with the video game........

Um...well when mine does that i unplug it and hold the power button for ten seconds and then plug it back in. Always works for me ;-) hope it works for u.
This has happened to me before and its a solder issue, same as Red Ring of Death issue. Try to leave
the 360 on for an hour and then let cool for 5min. If this doesn't work
you can try the towel method, but if that still doesn't work, the best
bet is to send to Microsoft. If you do take the 360 apart, try tightening or loosening the black screws on the bottom frame, located under the x-clamps, it may take some fine tuning. You may also find that completely removing the black screws will do the trick.
