Acer Aspire 4315 Notebook Logo
Anonymous Posted on Oct 11, 2011

I keep getting a white blank screen on my Acer Aspire 4315. Sometimes on boot-up, other times while in the middle of a task. It is running Vista and has only 1GB of memory so I've ordered 2GB. Not sure if that is the root of the problem, so before I install the upgraded memory, is there something else I should know or do? I have seen this issue on other blog forums, but so far I have not seen any solutions that seem viable.

A blank white screen generally indicates a video problem on a laptop. This can be a bad lcd data cable, a bad video driver, or an overheating/disconnecting video chip.

Restore to factory default

Unlike other laptops, Acer notebook/laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer Aspire 4315 to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer Aspire 4315 laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer one to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer Aspire 4315 is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your notebook data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

WIN VISTA boots up to the login screens. When I

try going into safe mode, usualy by pressing f8 after restarting it,then select safe mode and see if it boots. If it does boot then you most likely have a driver, virus or maleware problem. There is always the system restore option too from safe mode.

My acer aspire 4315 turns white screen anytime am using it.

It's caused by a defective LCD inverter. Very common problem.

Hi,
It sounds like a Bios issue.

Go to http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_4315.html
Download the latest Bios for the windows you are currently running and follow the Readme.txt and update the bios.
Hopefully this will fix the issue that is connect with the monitor and power setting in the bios.

Please Rate, Thanks.

White blank on acer 4315

Go to www.acer.com, choose Service and Support, choose Driver Download, choose Drivers & Downloads, select Product Line Notebook, select Aspire 4315, click Search.

The above should get you to here :
http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?website=AcerPanAm.com&siteid=7117&areaid=2&formid=3394#results

Click on "Flash BIOS v1.13 " which is the latest BIOS for the 4315.

Follow the instructions to download and extract the files.

In order to Run the Vv2-113.exe file, you will need to right-click on it and choose "Run as administrator"

Make sure your battery is fully charged before updating a BIOS and do NOT power off the laptop during the update process.

This seems to have fixed most of the white screen problems on the 4315 that I am working on. The Fn-F4 "standby" and power button (or FN key) "resume" process described earlier is worth remembering because I have still had a couple of the white screens with the latest BIOS. Both times seemed to be when the screen saver was trying to start (lots better than during the boot-up!), so I have changed from the Acer default screen saver to something simpler hoping that the change makes the problem less frequent.

Could you show a picture of the screen?. The problem is probable the LCD screen or cabling.
