I need help with improper fractions may you please help me thanks

An improper fraction is simply a fraction with the numerator being larger than the denominator.

To make it an improper fraction from the mixed number given, just multiply the whole number (2) by the denominator (3), then add the numerator (2). The result is the new numerator and the denominator remains the same.

In this case (2 2/3), it would be 2 * 3 + 2 for the numerator....or 8. So 8/3 would be the improper fraction.

Multiplying mixed fractions

Convert each mixed number (what you call mixed fraction) to an improper fraction, then multiply the two numerators and multiply the two denominators. Reduce the resulting fraction to its simplest form

Example
(2 1/3)*(1 5/7)=?
Convert 2 1/3 to an improper fraction 2 1/3=2+ 1/3 = 6/3+1/3=7/3
Convert 1 5/7 to an improper fraction 1 5/7=1+ 5/7 =7/7 +5/7=12/7
(2 1/3)*(1 5/7)= (7/3)*(12/7)= (7*12)/(3*7)
The 7's in the numerator and denominator cancel one another leaving
12/3=4
(2 1/3)*(1 5/7)=4
Not all products of mixed numbers will give a simple result as this one. More likely they will not.

I have a texas instrument TI-36X calculator

Hi,
Use the [a b/c] key.
7 [a b/c] 11 displays 7u11. Numerator can have up to 6 digits. Denominator can have up to 3 digits
7[1 b/c] 11 [a b/c] 19 displays 7u11u19 meaning 7 and 11/19. The vaiois numbers can have up to three digits each, but the total number of digits must be less than or equal to 8.

The key combination [2nd][d/c] toggles display between mixed numbers and improper fractions.
The key combination [3rd][F<=>D] switches between fraction and decimals. (Not all decimals can beconverted to fractions: see limitations above).

Hoe it helps.

I just bought a texas instruments TI-30X IIS Calculator. How do I reduced improper fractions with no mixed numbers. What keys do I press. For example: 3 6/8 X 7 1/3 = ? How do I find the answer?

if you want to use your calc for this you would have to put it in as the operations to change the mixed to improper fraction i.e. input exactly as "((8*3)+6)*((3*7)+1)="  remember?  take denominator times whole number plus numerator and put over denominator to convert from mixed to improper... hope this helps
