Hello,

The problem is going to be that the switch that turns on the spark for that front burner is defective and that switch needs to be replaced. To replace the switch on that cooktop which splis over the gas valve for that burner is remove all knobs and remove the face plate over all the burner valves, the switch slides off of the burner valve and the wires to it just slip onto the new switch,the part number for that switch is Y704512 it could be purchased at your local appliance partstore or online at;
apdepot.com
partselect.com
apwagner.com
repairclinic.com
applinacepartspros.com

before attempting any repair on the cooktop be sure to disconnect power and turn off gas supply

Jenn-Air CG206B. All ignitors don't spark or click. How would I know if it is the Spark Module or the Spark Ignition Switch. And cost if possible for parts and labor. Thank you.

one thing to be sure is there power to the range. if you can light the burner with a match your gas is good, If all burners are affected it can be a broken wire, power source, or spark module.

always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance

Gas burner won't light unless gas is turned down to the low position.

I've had this happen before, first make sure that the black burner cap is clean underneath and it's making good contact with the aluminium burner, also make sure the igniter is sparking across to the burner, check the ceramic coating around the igniter isn't cracked or the wires shorting out . Good luck.

I have a 6 burner range top. When I turn on 5 of the six all 6 spark as they should and the correct one lights. When I turn on the left front knob none of them spark and it will not light, but gas does...

Hi,

The problem is the burners switch the the single burners has failed, this will cause is not to fire the module and ignite the burner. I would replace just that burner switch to correct the problem. When you call for parts, make sure you have the complete model number and possible color of that burner switch needed. They make or have available switch that are sold by color, so color may be needed for this model.

I hope this helps.

Just purchased Ilve Ceran ceramic cooktop. Is V364X the cooktop model number? The outer are of the left front burner does not heat up

You may already be aware of this but ... If our ilve ceran cooktop is the same as yours turn the knob past the 12 setting till you feel pressure and it springs back. This is the switch to fire up the marked outer elements.

Ingiter will either fail to start burner or won't quit clicking on the 1% of the times it does start up the burner

Hi look for adjustments to the lighter and also there should be a sensor tat sees the fire , this sesor allows the main gas to turn on, but only if it feels the heat , kind of like a thermocouple , if you think about about any type problem like this: what is it not doing ? then think what could cause this >/? if you go about any repair this way there is nothing you can't fix unless you need a part !

(2) front Burner igniters on my new Matag 30" Cooktop continue to click

Sounds like water got into one of the switches. This usually happens when you wash the knobs. Water stays in the holes and runs down the shaft when replaced. Maytag has issued a recall on some stoves because this can be a fire hazard. UNPLUG THE COOKTOP UNTIL THIS IS FIXED!!!!!!!!! This has happened to me with a whirlpool unit and it tripped a breaker and shot sparks across the kitchen. First go to Maytags web site and see if yours has a recall. If so Maytag will fix it free. While you are waiting leave stove unplugged and light with a match. If you need to fix this yourself disconnect the wires from the two switches this should stop the sparking. Connect one switch at a time and see which switch is bad. Most of the time the electric part of the gas valve can be replaced seperately. and you can do this yourself. If you must actually disconnect a gas pipe unless you really know what you are doing call for service.

Clicking noise on cooktop even when all burners ignite

I have a viking gas cooktop. The ignitor on one of my front burners wouldn't stop clicking even after the flame ignited. I swapped that ignitor with the ignitor from a back burner, expecting that the problem was with the ignitor and that the back burner would start to click incessantly, but at least I'd have my favorite front burner for use. Instead, the front burner was then only clicking 50% of the time and the back burner was fine, suggesting the problem was related to the burner not the ignitor. I pulled the front ignitor a bit away from the burner and now it is working normally. Hope this helps.
