All Microwave ovens have a main fuse that is not accessible while the unit is mounted under a cabinet. Drop MW oven and replace the main fuse.

You put a mounting plate on the wall behind where the unit will be mounted. Then the microwave hooks onto the bottom of the mounting plate and you swing it up to the cabinet above it. Then you must screw 2 mounting screws through the floor of the cabinet above into the bracket on top of the microwave.

SOURCE: whirlpool microwave model #MH1140XMQ-1. I needed

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Or if you prefer, you can order a new control circuit board for it here for $140.10 plus shipping. (Just enter the model number as MH1140XMQ-1 without the dash).

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation or inside light, too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

I have replaced the surface light on my KHMS2050SSS-0 microwave/hood several times. The light bulbs keep burning out shortly after replacement. Why are the light bulbs to burning out so frequently?

if this is a standard edison base bulb try this fix. make sure power is off to oven, remove bulb, find the small tang in the base that contacts the bulbs center base and using needle nose pliers bend it up slightly, install new bulb. let us know how this works for you:)

Light bulbs in built in microwave have come apart when we tried to unscrew them for replacement. How can we get the broken end of the light bulb out of the sockets?

Most Samsung microwaves use a bulb and bracket assembly that is meant to be replaced as a unit, not disassembled (see image). If the bulb base was secured using epoxy or some other means, it may not be possible to remove without damaging the bracket.

That said, you can try traditional methods for removing broken light bulb bases. Remember to always unplug the fixture/appliance, or shut off and mark the breaker serving it, before working.

A cut potato or carrot can sometimes be pushed onto the broken glass left in the base, to provide a handle for unscrewing the base. On smaller bulbs, I have successfully used the eraser on the end of a pencil.

If the bulb was really stubborn, I would probably try filling the base with a hot glue gun, then pushing a screwdriver into the soft glue. Once the glue hardens, turning the screwdriver should unscrew the bulb base (if it is at all possible).

As you may have discovered, pliers and the like tend to just break off small pieces of the broken glass bulb.

Kenmore over range microwave oven / no power at all

Unfortunately, there is a good chance that when the bulb shorted out, it damaged the control board. The only way to know for sure is to do some electrical testing with a volt/ohm meter and the wiring diagram located within the appliance. The relays for the fan and the lights are part of the board. The power should always be disconnected when these bulbs are replaced or the board will be damaged. We would have an appliance repair person take a look to see what the deal is with the microwave.

Kenmore 363.6367 internal light doesn't go on

I had the same problem! I was soooo frustrated! But, when my brother came to town, he took off the grill on the top of the micro hood, took out a few more screws, a plastic screen, another screw in the metal cover for the light and then reached in with his fingers to pull out the light bulb, we replaced it, then re-assembled it. It did take us about 30 minutes to do the job and you will need a phillips screwdriver, and a phillips screwdriver drill bit thing, but we were able to do it. I love having the light in the microhood again.

Stuck light bulb in micro wave hood.

Be sure the oven is unplugged from the wall first.

In many cases, you have to break out the glass from the bulb and then use small needlenose pliers to unscrew the bulb base.

Once you get the lamps replaced, if they won't turn on or turn off, then you also have a damaged circuit board, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

Light bulb replacement

Yes it just unscrews.  Unplug the microwave first!  Then use some needle nose pliers and put them inside the base open the pliers to put pressure on each side of the base.  Now turn the base counterclockwise.  Let me know how it turns out.

Surface lights

I also have had a problem with the glass part of the surface light bulb separating from the metal base when trying to change the bulbs under my G.E. Spacemaker Microwave.. I see someone used a carrot or potato but I had not seen this suggestion before I whittled one end of a wine cork small enough to insert into the metal part of the old bulb stuck in the socket. It also worked great and in no time I was able to get the old base out and replace the bulb. I'll save the cork for next time because it seems to happen to at least one of the bulbs everytime they need to be changed. DON'T FORGET TO UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE FIRST!
