SOURCE: when you power on the (apple) or (mac os x) iBook

Hi there,
Congratulations on your new computer! What you need to do is reinstall the operating system, after wiping the computer:

  1. Turn the Mac on and insert the restoration disk that came with it (If you don't have one then you'll need to get one, try ebay or amazon, or an Apple store).
  2. Turn the Mac off with the disk still in
  3. Re-boot it, holding down the C key. This will boot up from the CD, and hopefully you'll be able to re-install Mac OS X, which will give you a working, clean machine.
When you get to step 3, you should have a menu bar at the top. Select Utilities -> Disk Utility. Select the computer's hard drive, and 'Erase'. Call the new partition whatever you like, but make sure it uses Mac OS Journaled Extended file system. Follow the instructions and you'll have a machine like new!
If you don't already have an install disk, watch out - you can only install Mac OS up to Mac OS 10.5 on your iBook. Don't buy a 10.6 (Snow leopard) disk, as it won't install!
Hope that helped, good luck!

SOURCE: I was given a power

Apple has a guide on resetting the administrator password here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=mac/10.4/en/mh655.html This one is for OS X 10.4 (Tiger) but the method is the same for newer versions. In older versions the only difference is that the reset password option mentioned in step 3 is located in the installer menu instead of the utilities menu.

How to factory reset iMac without login or keyboard?

To factory reset an iMac without a login or keyboard, you can try the following steps:
  1. Boot the iMac in Target Disk Mode: Connect the iMac to another Mac using a Thunderbolt cable. Power on the iMac while holding down the T key. The iMac should appear as an external disk on the other Mac.
  2. Reinstall macOS: Open the Disk Utility app on the other Mac and select the iMac disk. Choose "Erase" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the iMac's drive. After erasing, quit Disk Utility and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall macOS.
  3. Restore from Time Machine Backup: If you have a Time Machine backup of the iMac, you can restore the backup to the iMac after reinstalling macOS.
If these steps don't work, you may need to seek assistance from an Apple Store or a professional repair service.

I need to restore my macbook pro with os sierra but have no disk to do so, I AM A LITTLE EMBRASSED TO TELL U WHAT I DID NEXT i did the command r and have deleted the whole ****** system and no cd

Go to closest Apple Retailer fixer. A tech maybe able to flash recover your systems data. Being backed up will help. This may not be as painful as it looks. Make the call.

Reboot and tap f8 to see if a system recovery command pops up. Follow the screen instructions.

Your call service for the Mac should also b able to talk you through the process. Then remotely have troubleshooting accomplished while you watch and converse on the telephone.

Mac loads and runs fine, but every time I try to update the programs on my Mac it keeps asking for a password, I don't know.

Which program were you trying to update? Are you trying to download and install new software (that is not from Apple App Store?) Are you running Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8)? The password needed is your administrator password.

Problem with my Mac laptop just starting to freeze-up

Well there's 3 possibilities which comes to my head:
1. Least possible: You have a strange virus (it's least possible, because almost no one makes viruses for Mac). Try checking with some antivirus.
2. Possible: there's some error with drivers or OS (i know, MacOS X is much better than Windows, but no one is perfect, right?). Because MacOS = drivers +OS, try reinstalling it.
3. Most possible: Something is wrong with your hardware. And I think with your cooler. In that case this explains, why you're asked to restart - the system tries to prevent overheating.

User password

from apple:"From page 31 of the "Welcome to Mac OS X" booklet:
If you forget your password for your computer, insert the Mac OS X CD and restart your computer while holding down the C key on the keyboard. When the Installer appears, choose Reset Password from the Installer menu and follow the onscreen instructions.
Tip: Resetting an account password doesn't affect other kinds of passwords that might be forgotten, such as your email account password, .Mac password, secure server , Internet access password (if you have one), Keychain passwords, or Mac OS X 10.3 Panther's master password. "

If that does not work, follow the indications at the bottom of this page: Macintosh OS: Lost Admin Password
