Mitsubishi 73" DLP powers on, through welcome

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2011

    tried to "soft Reset". that process did not work. when power on the TV, it powers up, shows the welcome screen, and then transitions to the selected video source. The source shows for about a second or so, then turns off. I have tried all time periods from when it first starts to power up, through when it turns off, and it will not "soft reset". Once it powers off, always shows 4 red blinks and 2 yellow blinks. WD-73738, S/N 108015.
    What does this code 42 mean? something to do with a temp sensor or fan?
    I have managed to change the Source from Sat to Cable, to Ant. but always same results. Powers on up to viewing source video for a second, then shuts off.
    Thanks in advance for the help.

If you are getting at turn on source and back ground is all blue the set will shut down rather quickly;

I have a suggestion, if it works fine, and if not it will not hurt anything.

with original Mitsubishi remote turn set on and then Menu, 1,2,3, enter.

This is the soft reset that most of these sets have (cannot be sure since Model number above is correct?)

The reset button on the front (if it has it) just shuts the set down and reboots the DM unit inside.

Most of these sets when it is pressed the green light will blink for about 70 seconds and go out; that is the DM unit rebooting and the soft restart is something else.

Let me know what you find before you rate this information.

    The service manual which I will give you a free link to does not show a 4,2 error code...take a look at page 31.

Mitsubishi wd 65737, tv gets to the welcome screen then turns off. What is the problem?

Try unplugging the power cord for 60 seconds and plugging it back in. We had the same problem and that worked the first time we tried it. The problem is back and, after some frustration, the manufacturer recommend updating the software. Contact your local Mitsubishi service rep. to obtain updated software and instructions. Good luck!
