If the motherboard is a 4 slot dual channel memory configuration you have to install the memory in slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.

SOURCE: DDR2 Ram allergic problem....

When using different kinds of RAM together in the same computer, there is a general rule that the Slowest Ram has to occupy the first slots (the ones closest to the CPU and usually numbered on the Motherboard)

This is possibly the cause of your ram error although they're both 400Mhz, just try re-arranging them.
I think the Ram Error Code is two long beeps and the video error is one long beep and three short beeps.

Also, watch the Ram counter when you first turn the computer on, or check the "My Computer" properties to see that all the RAM installed is recognized.

Hello,

What os are your using? XP, Vista, Win 7?) Also, was this a new motherboard and what type of case are you using? Lastly, I would recommend you checking your BIOS and make sure there are no limits set on the memory cap. (Usually found in older system but check anyway.)

Good Luck.

Good day!You will buy a DDR2 Memory..DDR2 starts at PC533,PC667,PC800..But pc533 is obsolete already..so 667 and 800 is your choice.Kindly look at your existing memory and see if what FSB is it..667 or 800..then if you confirmed..buy one..

To the best of my knowledge, if both RAM speeds are the same and compatible with your FSB your BIOS will reconize them and not average their capacity or favor a compatible stick over another. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help. Good luck.

My msi pm8pm mb doesn't accept 1gb memory pc667 its accept only 256mb pc533, what i need to do to accept 1 gb memory, pls help me!!!!!! tnx!!

Your MB can take a max of 2 GB RAM. And it has to be DDR SDRAM. So, please ensure that it is compatible. Then only would it accept the RAM SIMM else it may damage the mother board. or the RAM itself.
