Some phones just can't do it with power+home. That will not work on my Samsung Intercept, but works on my HTC One X. For the phones that do not work with the power+home, you can use ADB, which will take a while, or have someone else take a picture of the screen with their phone. To use ADB, follow the instructions here: http://www.thefullsignal.com/samsung/samsung-intercept/6151/how-take-screenshots-samsung-intercept
To screen capture, you have to touch and hold "back" and while you're holding it, press the centre button. THE CATCH IS, as soon as you hit "back" it goes back, so what you need to do is pull down that screen (the one where you can turn on wifi, bluetooth, etc) and then do it. That way, when you hit "back", it'll go back to the screen you want to take a screen capture of. It's pretty fickle, so you may have to try a few times before you get it to work.
This is usually the actual screen driving transistors packing up, real common. replace the screen, if cheap enough, often though they are more than a new machine.
Hi there. Push the screen back Lift up the keyboard bezel using a small flat-head screwdriver. Continue removing the bezel with your fingers.
Lift up and remove the keyboard bezel.
Remove two screws securing the keyboard.
Lift up the keyboard and place it on the laptop cover so you can access the keyboard cable connector. Unlock the connector and pull the cable. Remove the keyboard.
you will need to check the display cable and if that is ok, you will need to replace the display panel... You're getting a short on the circuit board causing rows of pixels to be blocked out
