SOURCE: Dell PC Desktop Optiplex GX260 Doesn't boot

Open up the case and remove any add in cards and memory modules. Try to start up by adding these back one at a time until the unit stops booting normally. The light combination is not one recognised in the user manual so I am guessing you have a non-descript fault with one of your components. Be careful when you open the case as to not disturb the ribbon to the motherboard which controls the power, I have had a very long experience trying to get one of these reconnected!

SOURCE: dell dimension 4700 blinking yellow light

You clearly have an SMPS(power supply issue). Not 3 days ago I worked on my dad's PC that had the same problem. I found that the board had some leaky caps, and the circuit board inside it partially burnt. I could get it working by replacing the caps, but dont know how long it will last(I'll be getting a new PC soon anyway). Its advicable you replace the power supply. Should cost you around 30-50$ at MOST!

Dell front panel power light abcd lights yellow

Does the monitor go out completely, no power? Or just lose a signal? Check ALL cables, AC and Monitor cables. Could be a Graphics adapter issue or Monitor , try another monitor.Your computer has a few miles on it , right? You could buy a PCI Graphics card if the monitor is OK.

I have a dell computer. when i turn on the tower and monitor i get just a black screen on the monitor. i have pushed a few buttons on the bottom of the screen and it just says power save mode please use...

No, it's the Power Supply.

Power Supply has a weak voltage power rail.

The monitor goes to Power Saver mode because it is not receiving a video signal. (No Signal)
This is because the computer is not working.

{You can also test the power coming out of the Power Supply.

The Power Supply in your computer is an SMPS.
Switched-Mode Power Supply,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switched-mode_power_supply

It converts the AC electricity from your home, or business, into DC electricity.
There are three main voltages produced;

A) 3.3 Volts (3 point 3)
B) 5 Volts
C) 12 Volts
All are DC voltage

Two D cell flashlight batteries produce 3 Volts DC.
(In case you are worried about being shocked.
The 'bad' electricity is contained inside the Power Supply's case)

If you do not have a multimeter, an economical unit can be purchased for around $8 to $12. A LOT of stores carry them. An auto parts store is one example.

Orange wires are 3.3 Volts
Red wires are 5 Volts
Yellow wires are 12 Volts.

ALL 3.3 Volt wires end at the same 3.3 Volt power rail in the Power Supply.
Same with 5 Volt wires, and 12 Volt wires.

You can test ANY Orange wire, or any Red wire, or any Yellow wire.

ANY Black wire you see is a Ground wire.

The red probe lead of the multimeter is the Positive lead. The black probe lead is the Negative lead.

The Positive probe lead is touched to a positive wire.
Orange, Red, or Yellow.

The Negative probe lead is touched to ANY black wire. ALL black wires are a Ground wire.

The function knob on the multimeter is set to DC voltage. (Dotted line over a solid line, with a dotted line under the solid line. The curved S line over a solid line is for AC voltage. This = No)

If there are different scale settings, set the function knob to 0-50 Volts. (DC)

AL 1706 troubleshouting monitor wont turn on green

If your monitor shows a yellow light and it won't turn green, the problem most likely lies with the computer. If your computer is not sending a signal to the monitor, then you have a computer problem. One way to test this is to turn the monitor off and the computer off, too.
Turn the monitor on and if it is working, it should display a message telling you that there is no signal. If you see that message, you can assume the monitor is working. If you do see it, now turn on the computer and see if the message changes.
If you turn the monitor on and you get no message, you can assume the problem lies with the monitor itself.
If you have access to another monitor, hook that one up to test the computer output.

You can now either get the monitor fixed or the computer fixed, depending on which one is bad.

The light is always yellow and the monitor wont turn on

Yellow led light means the monitor is in 'sleep' mode. There is no signal being sent from whatever it's connected to. If it's a computer, try checking the connection(s), make sure it's not come lose inside the computer, try if you can the computer on a different monitor or the monitor on a different computer.

Check and make sure your connections on the back of the PC are snug...and make sure you have a good connection at the back of the monitor.
Flashing light...is loss of signal.
