I understand that you are not able to go online through the router WNDR3400. Please perform the below task to reset and reconfigure the router:

RESET:

With the help of a paper clip, press the reset button on the back of the router for 20 seconds (please refer to the label on the bottom of the router for reset button location). Release the reset button after 20 seconds and turn off the router. Turn the router on after few seconds.

CONNECTIONS:

1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. Please make sure that there is no direct connection between the modem and the computer (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Power off the modem and the router after making the connections.
4. Power on the modem and wait for the lights to come on and then power on the router.

RECONFIGURE:

1. Open a web browser like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
2. Access the router's GUI by typing http://192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. When prompted for Username and Password, please enter 'admin' for the Username and 'password' for Password.
4. Click on 'Basic settings' from the left menu and select 'Use Computers MAC Address' from 'router MAC Address' section.
5. Click Apply.
6. Once it updates the settings then power off the modem and the router. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

Please revert back for any further clarification.

Regards

Anand

No internet when adding switch between modem and router

The router controls and assigns IPs. Configuration goes from ISP modem to router to switch.

My acer aspire one wont connect to internet. it says it is connected to wireless, and i have wired it to modem but the problem still persists. please help.

Based on your description, the following is assumed.
1. The service to your Internet Service Provider is through a cable or DSL modem.
2. Internet service was initially set-up with your netbook directly connected to the modem.
3. A wireless router was since added and is using the direct wired connection to the modem.
4. The netbook is connected to the wireless access point being provided by the router.
5. The netbook says it is connected to the wireless access point but still no internet access.
The problem is likely due to the modem capturing the MAC address of the netbook when access to the internet servce was initially set up using the netbook directly connected to the modem and now the modem will only allow access with the netbook directly connected to it. You can check this out by reconnecting the netbook directly to the modem. It may be possible to "flush" the captured MAC by unplugging the AC power to the modem, waiting a few minutes and then powering back up with the router connected in place of the netbook. To make it easier, you may want connect your netbook directly to the router's LAN side to check if you now have internet access through the router. If you still don't have internet access, you will need to use your netbook to log onto the router to clone your netbook's MAC address for the router's WAN connection. The router's user guide/manual has directions on logging in and doing the MAC address clone. It will also have an explanation as to what is a MAC address.

Windows XP, Vista, & 7, installed citrix client 12.0.3 on each of them. When using direct connect through cable modem, access is allowed and all apps work. When connected to my local router(trendnet...

Because you can connect outside of your trendnet, its definitely the problem. please allow and direct traffic on port 3389 in your trendnet firewall.

Internet no longer working, but internal network is fine.

i agree with all the above.. it's definately clear as mud how the network is designed and or funtioning. The machines connected to the wireless d-link router.. are they via cat5 inthe wired ports or wireless ? is the server the machine thats connecting to the switch and wiress router and modem? i'd say reset all switches modems routers and machines.. shut them all down.. then fire the cable modem, then the wireless router then the desktop switch then the server, the workstations and the one lonely wireless.. run "ipconfig /all" on all machines and if they aren't all sharing common ips and access, provide the results here for further investigation.

D-link DGL-4500 is not accessing my dsl modem

make sure the dsl modem is in bridge mode. you do this by connecting directly to the modem then accessing modem configuration page. after doing this connect the way everything was before. now go to router admin page, then setup tab at the top, then choose internet, manual setup. in the place where its says my internet connection is select PPPoE. then put in your dsl username, password and etc. save settings. this should fix the problem

Networking

Your router internet settings should depend on your ISP connection type. If you are on DSL, either your setting is PPPoE or just obtain IP automatically. If you have a username and password from ISP, select PPPoE and specify your username and pw. Check on the internet/WAN status if it says "Connected" and if it has Internet IP address.

Your modem should be plugged in to the internet port of the router while both your computers should be on plugged in to the LAN ports (numbered ports).

You may contact your router manufacturer for step by step assistance on the router setup. They should be able to restore your connection.

Can you get into the router setup page? Connect the modem to the WAN port of the router. Then connect one pc (to start do not connect to a switch port beside the WAN port). Get into the setup page (usually http://192.168.1.1), and ensure that your modem is connected (to internet), that you have internet access enabled, and that DHCP is turned on. If all of this is ok, try turning the power off to modem and router; then power on modem, and when it has reset, turn on the router.

Remote access to my work desktop

Your modem is what connects you to the internet, your Mac airport is a router...One of the quirks about Apple's AirPort Base Stations is that they are routers, but not modems. As a quick refresher: a router enables you to create a network that connects various devices together (Macs, iPhones, iPads, hard drives, printers and so on); whereas a modem connects your network to the wider internet.

Internet Connection

You know it is not your connection nor is it your modem. Contact your isp and ask them to release and renew your ip lease. Then connect the router and retry. Should be good. Otherwise contact Microsoft
