Hi. Windows updates the drivers automatically once a new digitally signed driver is detected specially Windows 10. By lag do you mean applications open slower than usual or do you mean browsing with a web browser has become slower? If the latter, try clearing your browser's cache.

10. my guess is it lags from even just sounds. (even music online or off line, not just Video lag, as all on line videos can do.
11. even my netflix lags on my TV with 200mbs/ fiber. (and has nothing to do with my systems, its the internet or netflix caused.

The DPC spikes, my guess are software overload.

but this pc has no gigalan jack, oops, that be bad.

first try this on this old dog pc

in the start box. type, msconfig.
then see startup tab
then shut them all off for a test.
see if runs ok now.
why not show one example in detail that fails
show slow video link online. a youtube.
or better , name a game that runs slow or lags

Your son will need a long enough ethernet cable to run from the router to the console,or a wireless xbox adapter, these in the uk cost about £45 they are prone to lagging if the console is too far away from your wireless router, I would recommend buying 2 comtrend powerline adapters, about £30 off ebay, they use your existing power cables that run through your house, so no infuriating lag.

im not suprised its lagging! lol. there lot of fragile bits inside, the motor that runs the laser is prob screwed, it need the shop 4 repair i think or someone u trust to fix it if they know wat they doin, bottom line though, dont throw it.

Memory may help you, it also may not. One thing that can cause a system to run slow is from alot of startup programs and services. Also an infection could cause it to run slow to. I recommend lettnig a professional help you.
