Not good wendy, most likely cause is a blown cylinder head gasket, but have someone check to make sure the thermostat is opening( if you let the engine idle for around 10min the top radiator hose will get hot when the thermostat opens if the engine overheats before the top hose gets hot then replace the thermostat) if the thermostat is poening then supect the head gasket.

Thanks John when my rad was empty and the van wasn,t running as i was filling the rad again it would come straight out of the overflow spout .

you have to let the engine cool before you fill the radiator, also fill it with the engine idleing.

How do you bleed the radiator on a 1993 dodge caravan?

Hi,just fill it up then leave the rad cap off when the water warms up the fermostat opens you will see bubbles and the water might go down top it up when you dont see anymore bubbles put the rad cap back on,run the engine up to running temp then let it cool down again then take rad cap back off and top up as needed and put rad cap back on job done, all the best.

How do i replace the coolant in my 96 dodge caravan after i flush the system

Make sure all the drains are closed, start filling the rad and allow the coolant time to drain down, then fill again. Keep filling the rad unit it no longer drains down, just make sure to stop filling it when the level in the rad is just barely visible when looking down inside it. Now fill the overflow bottle to the lowest level mark. Start the car and turn you heater on to full heat. Let it warm up to proper temp, may/may not need to put more in rad. Keep an eye on the level in the rad it will expand and may overflow, if it looks like it will overflow use yout tester to remove some fluid. Once you see the coolant flowing throug the rad wait a few minutes, then put the rad cap on. Let it run a few more minutes to get the rest of the air out, then drive like normal. Check the fluid level in the overflow bottle (engine cold) over the next few days fill to proper level as needed.

If my water pump not working will it cause the coolant to come back out when i fill it yp and start the car

If you want to fill up the coolant, take the rad cap off start the car and let the engine get warm and wait for the thermostat to open and start circulating the coolant .Don't let this go on for to long or the very hot coolant will geyser out of the rad.Don't forget to fill your reservoir as well.good luck

1997 Dodge Grand Caravan water leak.

There is a hose on the passenger side fire wall. You may have the water leaking back into the car, and may need an extension piece.

I have 97 dodge caravan 3.0 and i put in a brand new radiator and thermostat. Now the cooling fans dont come on and fluid is bubbling up and coming out of the reservoir. But if I unplug the temp. sensor...

Not unusual to get big airlock if heater (not defrost) isn't on during bleeding process. I usually start vehicle, top up rad 1 " or so from top, turn heater on , then watch temperature gauge & wait for fan to come on after I see flow through rad indicating thermostat opened.(Normal operating temperature)I let it do that about 3 times before I put rad cap back on, after topping rad up to about an inch or 2 from top. Then fill coolant return bottle, to proper level. It may be your problem, but if your temperature gauge goes way up past normal operating temperature, before you see flow in rad, then maybe a faulty thermostat is the cause.

Need procedure to remove/replace radiator on 01 Dodge Grand Carva

This Link is for R&R rad fan assy, but once your there, the rad should be pretty obvious, what else needs to be done. Fan has to come off first anyway.
