My pc stopped working - the power light is on but when i press the button to turn on the pc, nothing happens

Pull the power cord out and press the power button on the PC to drain the power for 10 seconds. Then plug the power cord back in and turn the computer on. If still does not work, then the power supply may be blown out and needs replacement.

Check all wires for loose connections--- if the memory was wrong or something, it would still attempt to boot but stop during the POST and start to beep

It seems like a motherboard issue. It heats up, thus is not able to turn on continuously. You may need to check internal parts embeded on the motherboard llike the fan and processor before you could know what needs replacement.

Disconnect all cables from the computer. Press and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds. Reconnect only the power cable and try to turn on the computer on pressing the power button If it turns on then good otherwise, switch the power cable of the computer with the power cable of the monitor as they are the same cable as the power cable could be bad but this rarely happens. Open the computer and see if you see any light on the motherboard, if you do then the power supply is bad. If you dont then both power supply and the motherboard could be bad.

try to press and hold Fn and F8 - this is to toggle screen setting to ext and back to LCD on laptop. if nothing happens turn off computer by pressing power button, unplug the ac adapter, remove the battery. remvoe residual electricity from computer by pressing power button 10 times. just plug again the ac and leave the battery out. Pres and hold the letter D and while holding that press the power button once and release both of them. it will perform the built in self test on the lcd. if nothing happens, turn off computer. press anf hold Fn and while holding it press power button. it will perform diagnosis on computer. if still nothing happens need to repalce motherboard and LCD.

Maybe the mother board has stopped working.

try to press the power button for more than 10 seconds and try to power it again

maybe you have power conection problem
your problem maybe on the circuit after the battery
so you must check your circuit

Canon S330 Turn off printer
Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
Your printer should respond as normal

One ov my decks (same Gemini PT-1000 II) had the same problem. Just open it and clean the micro switches underneath the big buttons. It worked fine for me.
