SOURCE: hooking up alpine hd radio unit, bt-400, which one do i hook ipod to

Niether .... do you know what you have in hand? Both those extras costed someone some cash ... OK here it is: the CDA-9884 has a dedicated input for ipod (a KCE-422i cable is needed and comes with the new CDA-9884 in the box) ... The HD radio unit allows you to recieve new HD radio signals (digital radio, and stations that have it in your area may also have extra music streams like HD TV does). The bt-400 is a bluetooth adapter to use bluetooth enabled devices with such as a cell phone. If your ipod has bluetooth you could used the bt adapter but I suggest the KCE-422i cable instead, and check out the HD radio too, it's pretty cool.

Ai-NET cable is cut, wire splice male aux cord

On the ai net cable identify and separate strand with green, blue and unshielded common/ground. G and B will be your positive which you will then solder to red and white leads from rca or headphone cable with unshielded from that cable twisted together and soldered together with the unshielded wire from ai net cable. Tape off or heat shrink the rest of wires from ai net cable.

What is Ai net

ai net is simply alpine's upper level line of decks. they have their regular line and ai net line. just like kenwood has their normal line and their upper level excelon line. ai net uses different cables to connect with changers and aux items than the regular line.

I have my cd changer (alpine) plugged into the input port via ai net cable and I have the output going to the alpine radio (cda 9886) via ai net cable. When I hit the source button everything comes up but...

One thing to verify is that the Ai-Net switch at the bottom of the radio is set to Norm and not the EQ position. And also gray Ai-Net connectors are for audio input and the black Ai-Net connectors are for audio output. It sounds like you have everything connected correctly and at least the Sirius is coming up. And I assume that the CD changer works when connected directly to the reciever so you know that it is working. I would suspect that there might be a problem with the Sirius reciever not allowing the communication signal to connect to the Alpine deck and in that case you would need to get a new reciever. You could check the Alpine radio settings and see if there is something that needs to be changed in order to allow the CD changer to work. If you disconnected the battery connection to the radio then it might have reset the settings to factory default. Otherwise it sounds to me like the problem is with the Sirius reciever.

Is there a cable that will hook up the cda 7839 to

No, the CHMS600 is not AI-Net compatible and thus your deck will not control it.

Ipod control?

You can purchase the KCA-420i and connect it to to the ai-net port behind the headunit. This will allow you to send signal from your ipod to your alpine headunit while still retaining your operating functions to the ipod. Can be purchased for about 10 bucks on ebay.

CDA - 9833 AI-Net issue

If the radio was still plugged in when you cut it (such a BAAAADDD idea....) it likely shorted the data pins to the power pins which fried the AI net processor. There is no fix for that. It's toast.
