Ok, so how do I get the owners manual???

Go on-line and type the make and model number of your dehumidifier into the box of your search engine. Most companies post their manuals and repair info. on their websites, so they don't have to pay people to answer the telephone. Just print off the manual and you are all set.

My dehumidifier model BHD-501-D is icing up. The fan and compressor are running, do I need a new thermostat?

You may, but more than likely, the air intake filer needs to be cleaned and the compressor coils wiped down and cleaned. After cleaning the coils, a light coat of WD40 helps to preserve them.

Before attempting any cleaning or service work, turn the unit OFF and unplug it from the wall outlet and allow it to thoroughly thaw. Keep in mind, a dehumidifier will freeze up, if the room temperature is below 40 degrees. Also, where you have it installed may be a problem. Particuarly, a basement. Where the air temperature is colder at floor level.

In case you have misplaced your Owners Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download & print for future reference. Be advised, your Model Number is not for a Sunbeam Dehumidifier, it's for a Comfort Aire dehumidifier that's manufactured by Heat Controller Inc.

Humidifier gets ice on top of cabinate. It still produces water.

Most dehumidifiers have a defrost cycle that they run through, as needed. But, apparently, your is not functioning. Eventually, yours will stop collecting moisture, if this continues. In the interim, I would suggest turning the Master OnN/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit until it thaws. While it's unplugged, remove and clean the air intake filter on the front of the unit. If it's clogged it causes the unit to strain and may cause it to ice up. Once the filter is clean and the unit is un-thawed. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set the controls as you normally do. Hopefully, that period of being unplugged will have allowed the unit to reset itself and work properly.

I have included a link to your Owners Manual that you can download and print for future reference.

Changing from air conditioner to warm air dont have a manual

you will need to open the flap of the remote and press the button on the bottom left hand corner with a triangle, snowflake, raindrop and sun. Note on the top part of the LCD screen will be a sun. This indicates heating. Then set temp and fanspeed.
I take the time to help and answer your question so please rate me

Comfort-aire Dehumidifier bhd-651

Most likely the fan motor is broke. I have seen several units with bad fan motors.
