GE JTP45 Electric Double Oven Logo

F7 is permanently on the key pad and the oven is not working. I have disconnected the power so it would reset itself but it did not work.

It looks like I need to replace the control board. How much does that cost if I have a GE repair man do it? Or how would I get one myself?

Hi

Error code F7 means that an error with the keypad has occurred. Usually it happens due to loose ribbon cable on the keypad or the electronic control assembly itself going bad. To resolve this issue first, disconnect the power to unit and then gain access to the back of the clock assembly (Electronic Range Control/ERC). Now unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC, it would be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide and make sure that the cable is not broken and nothing is shorted on the keypad. After this is done insert the cable back and then plug the unit back to check. If the error is still there then the electronic control board should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Will cost you around $200 if you get this done by a professional.

I have an F7 code on my gas range that keeps beeping

F7 code usually means a stuck key on the key pad. Some of the keys can be unstuck, but if high heat caused the pad to warp it might not be repairable.

  • Turn off power
  • Disconnect the key pad from the clock
    • If code goes away key pad is at fault
    • If it does not the EOC (electronic control board) is at fault

You can try giving the oven a hard reset by disconnecting the power for 20-30 minutes, then restoring the power.

Controls won't work. Oven displays F7 error. Reseting oven or cycling power does not fix problem

HI. This is a basic communication issue that will concern, either the control board, or touch/Key pad assembly. Normally, this will produce a stuck key, which will cause one of the power relays to become suspended.

Determine if The problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:

1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting the key pad Ribbon Cable from control(main), and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs

If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.

If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.

  • NOTE_ Some models incorporate the touch/Key pad into the ERC as a single assembly(Whole device), in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Have JKP86 oven and the controls on the oven do not work. Get an F7 error code

Hello,

The F7 error code on GE ovens indicates either the control has detected one of the key pads on the interface/control is stuck or the clock ( ERC ) itself is faulty.

The first step in determining if it's simply a stuck key pad is to push the cancel/off key ( If you haven't already ). If that fails to clear the error try to shut off the 40amp breaker to the range at the service panel, leave it off for several minutes and upon resetting it the error will either return or the issue was a stuck key pad and you're good to go.

If the error does return after turning the power back on, you'll likely require a new ERC ( clock/timer ) unfortunately.

Hope this was helpful in moving you forward. Thank's for visiting "fixya" today and good luck.

Please take a moment and rate the information provided here accordingly.

F7 is displayed on my gas range and it's beeping

F7 on jenn air usually means you have a stuck or shorted key on the key pad. If it has a separate keypad you can just replace that or try disconnecting the keypad from the control board and cleaning the connection/ribbon with a pink eraser if possible. This rarely solves the problem but is worth a try. If it doesn't have a separate keypad you'll need to replace the whole ERC. (Electronic Range Control) It's usually the most expensive part of the range. Good luck!

Kenwood elite glass top range shows error code F7 for all burners.

F7 indicates a stuck touch pad key. Try pressing all teh buttons on the key pad to see if one is stuck. If you don't have a stuck key, there may be a problem with the key pad module itself
