Terry,
I think I already answered this one, but it still appears in my question cue.
Make sure the locking ring (on the top of the tray) is on TIGHT on the slide tray. Turn the tray upside down. Rotate the metal plate until the arrow stamped into it lines up with the notch on the bottom of the plastic tray. That should solve your problem. Jim
Thank you, you did solve the problem with my Model 760H. This later problem was for my friends older 800 Model Carousel which does not have the alignment marks on tne bottom of the slide tray.
Terry,
Is the tray "Kodak" branded?? If so, is its capacity 80 or 140 slides. It will make a difference in my solution.
Thanks Jim, My friend's carousel holds 80 slides
Terry
I forgot to mention Jim that it is a Kodak 80 slide projector

Terry, Even the oldest 80 slide trays had the Triangle-shaped arrow and the notch on the tray. When Aligned, the "0" position on the tray numbers will align with the cutout that allows a slide to move into the optical gate.
Thanks Jim. I guess this tray and 800 Model predates "oldest". Even with the "0" and cutout aligned allowing removal and insertion of the tray, the tray does not rotate and there is a humming sound when the forward or reverse button is pressed. Terry
Your Model 800 is approaching "prehistoric" in slide projector time. ;) Carousel Model 800 was made between 1964 & 1972 in Rochester, NY.
Sounds like the problem is the Slide Change Cycle Solenoid. There is a plastic link that connects the solenoid plunger to the cycle lever. With exposure to heat (age) and vibration, the link gets brittle & cracks. When that happens, you get a "humming" or "buzzing" sound and no slide tray movement. I don't know if you can still get parts, but if you can this is a difficult repair & adjustment. Check with www.micro-tools.com for repair parts availability. Let me know if this helps!! Jim
Thank you for your persistant research of this problem and the final diagnosis.
