I've had my deep fryer for about 1 1/2 yrs it always went well, the other day we deep fried fries unplugged it from the wall and even removed the magnetic electrical from the deep fryer about 5 mins later it started boiling but boiling to the point we had to take it outside in the yard and it actually spilled over this went on for about 5 min then it slowly cooled off on its own. We still don't know exactly what happened but I would like to inform people not to leave their deep fryer unattended and don't leave children of any age alone with a deep fryer.
Do you have an explaination for our mishap we sure don't!
thank you for your time

Hi there! For open fryers, oil will still spill even with cover during transit because open fryer cover is not designed to contain/ hold oil inside the fry pot to prevent the spill, it is only designed to prevent foreign objects from falling inside the fry pot when not in use, draining the fry pot before moving the trailer from one location to another is only the best solution. Regards.
you can fry fries at 325 degrees.pre heat for 25 min. rinse fries with water first, fry for 11-14 min. should be golden and crunchy. Deep fry guy :) Fresh potato recipe after fries are fried sprinkle w/seasoned salt &little red pepper
It seems to me that if the fries always turn out to soggy what you need to do is to cook them at a higher temperature for a shorter period of time, I think they are sitting in the oil far to long hence the soggy result.
I just got one of these w/Instructions, Says fill oil to fill level line inside. Cooking oil or shortening. Never use more than (2) - 8 ounces cups of cooking oil or (1) pound of shortening. Hope this helps!
First off make sure you get the OEM pitco t-stat.
1. Unplug all power sources from the fryer.
2. Remove all oil or shortening from the fry pot.
3.Remove the sensing bulb from the brackets inside the fry pot.
4.There will be a double compression fitting entering the fry pot from inside the control area, remove both of these compression fittings.
5. Slide the sensing bulb and cap tube out of the opening in the fry pot.
6. Remove the mounting hardware holding the old t-stat to the cabinet
7.Disconnect the wires on the backside of the t-stat (Make sure to note the wire locations)
8.Connect the wires to the new t-stat.
9Repeat the order in reverse to reinstall the new t-stat
When you connect the larger compression fitting to the frypot make sure that you get a pipe sealant that is rated to 600 deg. F
any high heat pipe sealant for stainless steel should suffice for this.

How can I clean my fryer?
- Unplug from outlet and allow unit to cool. Always turn control to OFF then disconnect plug from wall outlet BEFORE disconnecting BREAK-AWAY CORD.
- Clean the outside of the fryer and lid with a damp cloth. CAUTION: Do not use abrasive pads or alcohol to clean the fryer.
- Remove basket handle, if one is included. Frying basket can be washed in hot soapy water.
- Rinse and towel dry carefully.
- Pour out oil and discard properly.
- Wipe the inside with paper towels to absorb excess grease. Wash interior of fryer with hot soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. CAUTION: Never immerse the fryer in water or wash in running water. If you own a fryer with a removable bowl or other removable parts, refer to the Owner?s Guide for your specific fryer to determine which parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
