Black ink printing on back of paper - Canon PIXMA® MP530 All-In-One Printer

Black is very difficult for an ink jet printer. If you are using the wrong paper, it even is more difficult. Please use paper made for ink jet printers, because the paper can absorb the fluid better so the pigment is more visible. There are also different ink's you can buy, but please if it really should be black, only use the brand own ink. Not a cheaper version. Professional printers even use different blacks for photo paper and for matte paper (and ink jet paper). Just to microbe how difficult it is to get real dark black on different media.

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. Got to Printers and Faxes in Start, Right click on the icon for the printer, click properties, click maintenance and try cleaning the backing plate from there.

Try removing all ink bins except black then you won't have any problems. You should also be able to go into your printer settings and select "Black and White" or "No Color" and it will print ok. Removing the ink trays is the easiest way though.

Are you using Name brand ,new ink cartridges?
Take the color cartridges out and make sure you removed the tape from the bottom of those cartridges. if done already take a wet paper towel and squeeze out the excess water, then lay the damp paper towel folded in half on a flat surface.
Then set the colored in cartridges one at a time with the ink side pressing against the damp paper towel for about 3 min. after 3 min you should see the ink drain on to the paper towel if so then replace the cartridge back into the printer and that should solve your problem.

Thats because it's using the other colours to mix what it thinks to be shades of grey. Due to the black ink being pigment based and the colours inks dye base, when printing onto glossy paper the machine will use the colour dye based inks to make up black. 
If you were to print on plain paper, set to greyscale, then the machine will just use the black as the pigment ink sits onto of the plain paper and will not run should the paper get wet.  With glossy paper the ink has to be absorbed into the paper ad the Black pigment ink will not do this so the machine will use the coloured inks.

Sucks but true. 

This is probably due to miss alignment, there is an option of test page which will be scanned to allign the cartridge, if ur's a all in one printer. This test page is printed at the first time and scanned instantly for first time operation.

I had this problem. If I tried to print a black& white photo on to glossy paper, it would only print green. When I tried on to plain paper using the 'fast' option, it printed in black. The reason for this is, on plain paper it uses the black cartridge, but output to glossy photo paper using the 'high' option, uses the mix of colours in your colour cartridge. If one or more of your colours has run out, you will get a print with the ink left in the cartridge. Replace the cartridge or refill it & your problem is solved.

That would require a very special "white ink" print cartridge for your printer. The regular color ink cartridges won't do this, since they can only make the black paper "black-er" when it prints ink on the paper. You may want to ask the manufacturer (Canon) if they make a special "white ink" cartridge for that printer, or know of someone who does. Your only other option is to make a "negative" print image in Photoshop, or a similar graphics software application, and then PRINT the black ink on white paper... which will then leave everything you want to "print white" as an unprinted area on the white surface of regular paper. (Note: with such heavy printing you would want probably want to use a heavier grade of paper, such as 28# or 60#.) This will use a LOT of ink, but it may be the only way you can accomplish your goal.
