We have two of your Chateau Deville 52 ceiling fans. They were installed in the late Summer of 2009. We consider them to be absolutely gorgeous. We are having a transmitter problem with one fan though. We determined it was the transmitter through the process of deduction. We changed the code of the 1remote to verify that it would work our 2 fan; which it did. And we changed the code of the 2 remote to verify that it would not work on the 1 fan. So, we know it is the transmitter in the 1 fan but now what do we do? Appreciate any guidance that you can give us. Thank you

SOURCE: My Callaway II ceiling fan

If I recall, this fan has no external switches that can be operated - all of the fan and light functions are controlled by the remote alone. If this is indeed the case, there is little that can be done outside of hoping the problem is with the remote itself. If that is the case, replacing the remote is likely to be cheaper and less labor intensive - that is if you can find one.

From what I have read, this fan is no longer in production nor available for purchase. You may have luck bringing the remote to Home Depot - the main (possibly the exclusive) distributor of the Hampton Bay brand to see if they have fans on display that make use of remotes for fan and light control. If so, try to see if all your remote functions work. If you find that the reverse function no longer works - you should ask the sales associate about how to go about ordering a replacement remote. If the remote fails to work at all, you can 1) try a "shot in the dark" about ordering a an exact replacement remote - with the hopes that the remote itself is defective - rather than the paddle fan, or 2) start new by buying a new paddle fan with hardware switches for fan speed, direction and light operation AND a remote control module to perform a whole replacement of your existing paddle fan.

The "add on" remote control gives you many of the benefits of the remote only fan - but also provides a "back up" way to operate the fan should the remote or module fail. Had this been the style you have currently, you could operate the fan by hand until the remote and / or ceiling module was replaced.

I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.

There is noReverse switch Hampton BAy Chateau Deville

From page 11 of the manual:

The Reverse switch is located on the top of
the motor housing. Slide the switch to the
Left for warm weather operation. Slide the
switch to the Right for cool weather
operation.

There is no "remote reverse" capability on this fan. You'll have to reach up (or get a ladder) and physically slide the switch one way or the other.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply - thanks.

I have a Hampton Bay, Glendale 52 inch ceiling fan/light. I've installed ceiling fans in the past and am used to having 4 wires coming out of the unit - black, blue, white and green. There are black,...

green on the fan is for grounding the device, some have only a braided bare cooper line. grounding is a safety essential and all modern UL tested electrical devices will have some means of grounding to the homes grounding circuit (the bare copper line). check the installation instructions for the proper grounding method. Then you might consider having a qualified electrician install your fans.

Can i hang a ceiling fan on a 15 lb bracket box for a light fixture or do i need to change out the bracket box?

Absolutely change out to a bracket and box rated for a ceiling fan. Even if your fan does not exceed 15 lbs a non fan rated bracket and box is not made to endure the vibrations and other motions created by a ceiling fan

Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan - Clarington 503837 52"

It slides in above right above the ball, in the mounting bracket where the canopy is. You may have to kind of encourage it to go in there, and you will need to push wiring off to the sides and out of the way to help it have clearance to get in there.
