Hi, the magenta ink won't work on my printer hp office jet pro k8600. I have replaced it with a new one and even though is shows that it's full on the ink levels it won't print it at all, I have tried all...

Materials needed: New empty syringe (big one) Gloves (to protect your hands fromink) Alcohol Paper tissue (to clean the excessink) Empty Plastic bottle (Here you putthe ink from the syringe) Important: Ensure that you have put new Magentaink cartridge to HP K8600. Ensure that the printhead arerecognized by the printer or no light alarms. Instruction: Press the Power button to turn onthe printer. Test print in microsoft excel with4 color black/yellow and cyan/magenta. If magenta only is missing means youhave clogged problem from the host. Wear your globes, prepare thematerials needed. Open the top cover. Press and hold the Resume buttonuntil the carriage moves to the left. CAUTION: Be careful not to proceed until the carriage is on the left sideof the printer. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, turnthe printer off and back on and then try holding down the Resume button again. The printhead can be damaged if the carriage is not all the way to the left forinstallation. Lift the printhead latch. Lift the handle of a printhead anduse it to pull the printhead magenta/cyan out of its slot. Put printhead in thepaper tissue upward. Your printer are still ON becarefull not to touch the flex copper circuit. Get your syringe, use this to pullthe ink from the nozzle cap ( see link picture) After the done the syringe method,Insert the printhead magenta/cyan into its color-coded slot. Press down firmly on the printheaduntil it snaps into place. Pull the printhead latch all theway forward, and then press down until the latch engages. Close the cover. The printer should align theprintheads automatically in a few minutes, printing an alignment page. Print a test with magenta coloronly, If it does not print, try to change the Printhead. This is the only solution I foundin my HP k8600 printing problem.christan_11_1.jpg

I have hp 7130 deskjet and i cannot print in color initially i had bad printhead cyan and yellow error but after i cleaned print head all errors are gone but still cannot print color

Cleaning, unfortunately takes up a lot of ink. Check ink levels. If you need to, you may have to put new cartridges in every 100 or 120 pages or so depending on how colorful the documents are.

How much printing have you done with this printer?

My office jet L7590 printer suddenly quit on me. It keeps playing a message that says the printhead has a problem

Did you let one of your inks run dry? If so, you need to replace the effected printhead. This model has two, one for black and yellow, and a second for cyan and magenta. If you let the yellow run dry but have tons of black, it still effects the black/yellow printhead. Same with the other, either color going dry makes its printhead go bad. Either printhead will set you back about $75. Easy to remove and replace once you get the new printhead.

Bottom line with this model of printer...DON'T let you inks run dry. A new ink cartridge is $20 vs. $75 for a new printhead.

FYI - This is the most common mistake/problem with this printer. The Inkheads are built to last at least 40,000 prints. That's several years for most of us, that is unless you let the inks run dry.

HP Officejet K850 pro prints black ok, but colors are poor

I read earlier that black and magenta were printing but not cyan or yellow.....HP says to gently wipe the side of the electronic band but not the bottom, I did all of the above...and the printheads carefully, no change w/ the printout from "clean printheads"...the cyan had an occasional blue line(very fine) and there was no yellow.

So I trickled warm water over the cyan and yellow printheads....then thought what the heck, got a bowl of warm water and swished the printheads half submerged. They print perfect now I have the reds, yellows, greens and all the colors back w/ the clean printhead option and printed a coupon, it was perfect.

I hope it's not a short term fix...I developed the problem when I didn't print for a long time, hope this helps someone, Cyn

BTW, I flashed a light down in the recepticle for the cyan and yellow printheads and they were gunky w/ blue and yellow gook, so I clean that out w/ a damp lint free rag....paper towels shredded and I had to carefully remove the remnants.

Streaks though the pages

Step one: Retry the print job The problem may occur only rarely. If you have not seen it in other printouts, try again. Step two: Increase the print quality mode If reprinting did not help, try increasing the print quality mode.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected, and then click Properties .
  3. Select the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. In the Print Quality area, choose the next higher quality setting. If the current setting is Draft, choose Normal. If the current setting is Normal, choose Best.
Step three: Print in grayscale (black area streaking only) If the streaks are in a black area of a black and white printout, change to grayscale printing. NOTE: This step does not apply to color printouts.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected and click Properties .
  3. Click the Color tab, and select Print Grayscale and High Quality .
Step four: Clean the printheads If the print quality is still bad, clean the printheads.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open HP Solution Center .
  3. Click Settings , Print Settings , and then select Printer Toolbox .
  4. Click the Service Tab .
  5. Click Clean Printhead , and then click Clean .
Step five: Align the printheads If the print quality is still bad, align the printheads.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open the printer Toolbox , and select the Printer Services tab.
  3. Click Align Printheads . The Align Printheads window opens. Click Align .
  4. The printer prints an alignment page. The lines in the patterns should appear to be straight. Click OK when the page finishes printing.
Step six: Calibrate the linefeed If the print quality is still bad, calibrate the linefeed:
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open the printer Toolbox and select the Printer Services tab.
  3. Click Calibrate Advanced Linefeed . The Advanced Linefeed Calibration window opens. Click OK .
Step seven: Replace one or both printheads If the print quality is still bad after performing all the above steps, one or both of the printheads will have to be replaced. Print a PQ Diagnostic page to see which printhead should be replaced.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Press the Setup button.
  3. Press 1 and * simultaneously.
  4. Look at the color blocks labeled Test Pattern 2. Some or all of them could show white horizontal streaks. If none of the blocks are streaked, the printheads are okay.
    • If the Black block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Cyan block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Magenta block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Red block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Green block has lines – replace the KY printhead.

HP CP1700 - no cyan or blue printing

Try taking a look at your printheads. Have they been installed for some time. You may need to change them. Start with the Cyan first.
