I believe these Sony TV's have a built in obsolesence and Sony does not care about fixing them. I don't think a 7-year old TV is an "old model". Who can afford to by an expensive TV every 7 years. Shame on Sony.

I've got this remote, and the instructions. The "Code Search" function will get you there, but it's tedious.
Step 1: press and release the "TV" button (top right corner)
Step 2: Press and hold the "Code Search" button (small triangle directly below the on/off button) for 4 seconds until the red LED lights up
Step 3: Point the remote at the TV and press the on/off button slowly -- here's the tedious part -- for up to 200 times. Each time you press the button, it tries a different remote code.
Step 4: When the TV turns on for you, press the "Enter" button (right side, just above the channel/volume keys)
Step 5: You're all set!
Or, if you're like me, there's a step 3a: press the on/off button to quickly, and hit blow right past your TV's code before you notice. If you do this, hit "Enter" and start over, going more slowly this time.
Good luck!

Good day.
Please check with the channel buttons of your unit. They replace the power buttons functions.
